I am usually always barefoot, I hate shoes. If I go anywhere in public I do ware flip flops, but everywhere else I stay barefoot. My sister thinks it weird that I can walk down our gravel driveway barefoot, because she is super tender footed, she puts her shoes on right after she wakes up and wares them till bedtime.

I do, I haven't worn shoes for well over ten years and I don't intend to wear footwear ever again. It's so much more comfortable and, contrary to popular myth, it's far more healthy too.
It's not dangerous; feet get very tough very quickly. I walk and often even run in places with lots of litter and I get a tiny splinter maybe once a year, I've NEVER cut my feet in all those years. In the unlikely case it does happen, there's been a vaccine against tetanus around since the 1920's which I would keep up to date anyhow; there are other ways to catch it than from stepping on something while barefoot, I like gardening and being around pets too.
It's unlikely to catch any disease from going barefoot; our skin is made to keep pathogens out and I neither lick my feet nor put them up on the dinner table. Nor do I get colds; I make sure to keep the rest of my body warm and I go barefoot without trouble even in the snow. In fact, I'm much healthier now; I used to be sickly from early fall until late spring, coughing and sneezing no matter what I tried, but these past ten years I've called in sick once (for two days, and not even in winter).
Athlete's foot needs a shoe to grow, and 'foot odor' needs a shoe too, bare feet that have been bare don't smell bad.
Visually, it's sad there are so many people who dislike feet, but in flipflops you still see 99% of the foot! What difference does a little strap make for those who dislike the sight of bare feet? While for me as the barefooter, a flipflop makes a *big* difference. Unlike someone above who suggested wearing flipflops because they 'give the feel of bare feet', I care especially about the bare sole. I wouldn't even mind wearing something on top of the foot (sometimes I do wear 'barefoot sandals' that loop from the ankle to the toe) but what I love best about going barefoot is feeling all the different surfaces underneath. Walking on even the thinnest sole to me is like wearing dark glasses at an art show or ear plugs at a concert.

actually i always go barefooted. well not in public places like the grocery store or a food establishment. but yeah most of the time i am barefooted and if i'm not i'm wearing flipflops. it's just easier and more comfortable to be especially if i'm on the go. now i do have a problem with someone that is barefooted like at mcdonalds or something, that's just not well mannered. well unless you're pe'le

Hahah I LOVE going barefoot around the house without socks =) And at school a bunch of friends and I like to take off our shoes and run in the grass under a sprinkler and we'll be SOOOOO wet for 1st period. Our school is so lame, the sprinkler is on even when its raining which is 6/7 days of the week because I live in Seattle ''/

To each his own. I always kick my shoes off as soon as I get home, but I have gotten stung on the foot and stepped on glass going barefoot. I usually try to slip on some flip flops when leaving the house.

My kids would in a heartbeat, and before we adopted them, they were always in bare feet.
I think that it is not a good thing, because there's bees, glass, rocks, nails, etc that can cause bad problems when encountered by bare feet.
If it's an adult that always goes barefoot...you have to wonder...can they afford shoes or not?
I mean, flip flops get the feeling of bare feet, but protect the soles.
