He'll be 3 weeks old on Thursday and he eats 4 oz of formula every 3 to 3 1/2 hours. I've been looking online at how much he should be eating because now he's acting like he's still hungry. Is this weird? He got weighed at 2 weeks and he had already passed his birth weight.

Your baby is eating what he needs. No two babies are alike and the numbers you get online are only an average. My son is 5 months old and weighs 19lbs! He's perfectly healthy and eats constantly, docs says he's a normal weight for his length although he is in the 98th percentile.

unfortunately it may be too much.I was doing the same thing with my son and at 2 months he was up to 4-6 oz every 3hours and my doctor put him on a diet(ya im not too impressed about that but alright) Now he is on 4 oz every 4 hours and his last feeding of the night ie 10 oclock we feed him 6 oz.he now sleeps thru the night and after a couple of hard days bc he was hungry..he is on a new schedule..oh by the way he was 7lbs 2oz when he was born and at 2 months he was 13.15lbs and he was in his 90th% in weight and 50th% in height.we will be putting him on cereal sooner than we think..prolly 3 months..

perfectly normal. at this stage babies grow rapidly the first year of life so they tend to eat/drink more. My daughter was drinking 4oz every 4hrs at that age. Then she moved up to 5-6 oz every 4-5hrs she averaged about 32-40ozs per day. Try not to go over the 40oz mark or at least I wouldn't. Also had to change my babies formula around a cpl times to get the one that agreed with her. It seems to be agreeing then a month or so later it wouldnt and that is normal too. Had her on enfamil w/ iron, then gentleease then finally prosobee where she stayed until she was almost 1yr old. Good luck!!

He should be eating roughly 2.5 ounces per pound of body weight per day.

As an example, he weighed 12 pounds, he would need 30 ounces. If you are feeding him every 3 hours, that is 8 bottles per day, or an average of 3.75 ounces per bottle.

My guess is that he is either bigger than 12 pounds... or just really hungry! You are not feeding him too much. He'll only take what he needs.

try feeding him 5 oz every 3 hours and see if that helps.

He's 3 weeks old - this is totally normal. He'll let you know how much he wants and how often.
