xp is more stable and won't crash as much, and also vista is too expensive to get a computer which it will run on - so yeah my vote goes for xp

Hi, Windows Vista is way better. Xp is a piece of sh*t in front of Vista. Don't think that the only thing Vista has is a media centre. Windows Vista has been designed on pure NT code which makes it very stable, even more than Xp which was a combine of 9x and xp. Since Vista is purely NT based some old software won't work on it. Windows Vista is also a lot more secure since it has security features such as user account control meaning no program or virus can take control of ur computer without u finding out. Vista has DirectX 10 which will be required for all new Windows games. Vista has a better interface, its better than OS X in my opinion. The aero effects r normal, not as good as Linux though. If ur computer is powerful than Windows Vista is the best operating system for it. I hope I helped.
Good Luck and take care!

This is a subject I know very well as I sell and repair a wide range of machines. Having been doing this since XP came out I can happily say Vista is more stable than XP and will only get better. Vistas only real problem is compatabilty with older / low spec hardware. If you are upgrading a old machine or spending sub £500 on a new machine XP is a safe bet.
Be very scepticle of people writing off Vista who have had few little practicle experiece of it. Microsoft have learnt alot from XP, and just remember how many people said 98 was better XP only took a matter of months for that arguement to all but disapear.

I think at this moment in time XP is more stable than Vista (and is more highly supported by software companies and hardware manufacturers)
I actually don't think Vista is too bad, but like any new software there are loads of glitches at the start (everyone slagged off XP when that first came out, now it's the best thing since sliced bread!)
I think Vista will get better and more stable when Microsoft release a service pack for it.
Another point to bear in mind about Vista is that it needs a lot of RAM. I wouldn't even consider using it if you have less than 2GB in your system.

XP is better than Vista but if you have the following 2 things that is Enough Ram and enough Processing Power to handle the supposedly more CPU intensive Vista. If you have these 2 things then Vista may even outperform XP.

Windows Vista Home Premium and Ultimate incorporate a new and improved version of Media Center - I use t every day and prefer it to the XP Media Center.

It all depends on what version of Vista your are running and the hardware in the computer it is running on. If you have the right amount of ram and everything and you are running Vista Home Premium or better, than Vista stomps all over XP. But if you have a weaker computer than you should probably stick with XP.

In terms of the best Media Centre experience it would have to be Vista, but remember you will need Vista Ultimate or Vista Home Premium to get the media center capabilities.

Xp is the best. Vista sucks and you have to go through so much just to get on a website. Wasted time if you ask me. I had XP and then I got a new computer with Vista on it and I hate my computer just because of Vista. If you can stay with XP you will be angry at yourself if you don't.
