It's about a four hour drive from Phoenix. The train your think of is the Grand Canyon Railroad, but that leaves from Williams, AZ. It's neat to go by railroad, but it may just be easier to drive. If you drive you can check out different rims of the canyons, the north, south, east or west. Plus you may want to check out the new Horseshoe bridge, it's shapped like a horse shoe and has a glass floor so you can see down into the canyon.

I fairly have basically back from Grand Canyon, have not been to Yellowstone. The Grand Canyon is extra captivating and over powering than any photos or television can coach. I actually advise it, alongside with a pass to to vacuum Dam/Lake Mead. Las Vegas may be exciting too, regardless of in case you basically spend an afternoon sightseeing. the hot glass 'neglect' isn't on the nationwide Park, it is in nearby American territory.

Not sure about a train that takes you from Phoenix to the GC. But I know there's a train tour. The train station is in Williams, AZ and head to the GC.

Don't think there is a train and it would require connections (to cumbersome). Best to rent a car, if possible. If not, then there are numerous tour companies listed in the Phoenix yellow pages.
