I would call or go in. That is one of the signs of labor. It's better to be safe.

You can always call you doctor. Talking is a good way for him to surmise the situation as well as calm your fears. Most groups have on call doctors to handle these types of situations, whether your doctor is available or not. If you seeing a doctor who is working alone then he also will be quite used to receiving calls and all are understanding of your situation and fears. My guess would be that it's from your exam, not your plug. A plug is an obvious piece of gookiness, slimy but very solid. Sounds just like old blood mixed in the never ending mucus that is pregnancy. If your feeling insecure about this however, I'd suggest you do call, being stressed out isn't going to help the situation much. Obviously if you start having contractions or feel leaking (that doesn't smell like urine) call dr immediately. Good luck and an early congrats!!

The mucous plug covers the cervix and helps prevent bacteria from entering the cervix, thus protecting the baby. If you had a vaginal exam or sex the day before, you can lose all or part of the mucous plug. However, if this plug is dislodged prior to 36 weeks you should notify the doctor immediately, as this could be a sign of pre-term labor, especially with the cramping you are experiencing.

well the stabbing pain is normal i had that with my 2nd baby and its bloody painful! sounds to me like you've lost your mucus plug. you really should go back to the hospital and insist on seeing a doc or midwife if your cramping (although some women get braxton hicks but they dont noramlly last as long). if you have lost your mucus plug then labour isnt always that far away so get to the hospital. All the best!

Hmm, the brownish bit is old blood. With that and the sharp pain,it sounds like your cervix is opening up a bit. Better see the doc. If you were near term I'd say don't worry, but it's a bit early for that to be happening.

Mucus Plug... I would wait and see if you start to have pain I would go in... but you are just right around the corner from labor. It could be today or it could be 4 weeks from now. Good luck.

Did you have an internal exam yesterday? Sometimes it can cause you to bleed a little. Or you might have lost your mucous plug. You should call your doctor's office and ask to speak to the nurse. The nurse should be able to tell you if you need to go in or not.

It's definately your mucus plug. Proceed to the doctor if the pain persists. Good luck and two weeks from now you should be in labor.

If you had an internal exam yesterday, that could be the cause of the discharge. Also could be bloody show. If they monitored baby on NST or ultrasound yesterday, and everything was okay, I wouldn't worry. Your body is probably just preparing for labor.
