Why are the celebrity Global Warming nuts telling us common people that WE need to conserve? I am sure my "carbom footprint" is about 1/1,000,000th of those who were on Bravo TV this weekend telling me that I need to conserve, do they realize how much energy and waste is created from making movies and such?

A Tale of Two Houses
Here's some interesting information.
You can check this out on Snopes.com under "The Story of Two Houses"
House #1
20 room mansion ( not including 8 bathrooms ) heated by natural gas. Add on a pool ( and a pool house) and a separate guest house, all heated by gas. In one month this residence consumes more energy than the average American household does in a year. The average bill for electricity and natural gas runs over $2400. In natural gas alone, this property consumes more than 20 times the national average for an American home. This house is not situated in a Northern or Midwestern "snow belt" area. It's in
the South.
House #2
Designed by an architecture professor at a leading national university. This house incorporates every "green" feature current home construction can provide. The house is 4,000 square feet ( 4 bedrooms ) and is nestled on a high prairie in the American southwest. A central closet in the house holds geothermal heat-pumps drawing ground water through pipes sunk 300 feet into the ground.
The water (usually 67 degrees F. ) heats the house in the winter and cools it in the summer. The system uses no fossil fuels such as oil or natural gas and it consumes one-quarter electricity required for a conventional heating/cooling system. Rainwater from the roof is collected and funneled into a 25,000 gallon underground cistern. Wastewater from showers, sinks and toilets goes into underground purifying tanks and then into the cistern. The collected water then irrigates the land surrounding the house. Surrounding flowers and shrubs native to the area enable the property to blend into the surrounding rural landscape.
~~~~~
HOUSE #1 is outside of Nashville, Tennessee; it is the abode of
the "environmentalist" Al Gore.
HOUSE #2 is on a ranch near Crawford,
Texas; it is the residence the of the President of the United States,
George W. Bush.
An "inconvenient truth".
Sway you are right again. Can you imagine that Al Gore won a nobel prize for being a consersationalist. What a slap in our face that was. And that is only one of the three houses that Al (the consersationalist) Gore owns.
Man made Global Warming is a fantasy created by the Left. It's basically an excuse to raise taxes.
The Clebs preach it because that's their typical political affiliation. The hypocrisy is well observed. Have you ever seen ANY of the self righteous glitter crown take a bus to an awards show?
From 1945 to 1970 the Globe was cooling. There were even articles on Man Made Global Cooling and dire fears regarding shorter growing seasons.
From 1970 to 1998 the Globe has warmed. Are we celebrating the longer growing seasons? Nope, Al Gore needs your wallet to save the Earth.
Global temperature has been fairly constant for the last 9 years in stark contrast to rising carbon emissions and general panic.
Odds are the temperatures will decrease over the next 20 years. Can't wait for the lectures on how Global Warming causes Global Cooling.
Perrhaps you are not aware that America's energy consumption is not sustainable. With oil at 100.00 a barrel, how much longer do you think it is going to last? Forget about global warming for a second.
Is there enough fresh water available in the worlde to sustain 11 billion people ?
These concerns are just part of an over all picture.
Analyzing the trends leads to some dire projections.
We are always asked to make sacrifices so that BUSINESS can go on as usual. You have to understand that if we conserve it's more for the economy to keep itself rolling. Heaven forbid BUSINESS should actually conserve. FYI regardless of your energy footprint...when was the last time you thought about recycling those aluminum cans or cardboard boxes? We live in a country with just over 1% of the world population yet we utilize 40+ % of it's resources...you don't have a problem with that? It really doesn't matter who's wasting BUSINESS or us...we're a consumer nation and as long as we're doing that we'll be WASTING because of gross inefficiencies in our systems. Most if not all are spoiled brat SUV drivers...Really, in the Sunbealt States do you need to drive an SUV that gets 13 mpg. Let's face it ...BUSINESS won't change their wasteful habits because we won't stop consuming. PEACE!
Algore needs to revisit his physician and have his meds increased. The guy is so bonkers it's almost sad. I love this quote of his " the debate on global warming is over". Can you imagine if someone from the religious right said some like that about....geez anything! The Left would go ape ca-ca and the drive-by Leftist media would fry them. But Algore gets a pass. Some days you wake up and the Chimps are on top of the horses.
they are the biggest hypocrites just the electricity used for the 20000+sq ft homes that 1 person lives part time create more pollution than twenty families. Hmmmmmm. But it is a good idea to conserve. Recycling is a farce for most thing because the paper co has to recycle brand new paper to meet govt regulation.
Very good points, but how would you recommend they get the word out? In a society where newspapers and magazines are probably not read as much as tv shows and movies are watched, that is their only way to get everyone to know the issues. Not saying that all they do is perfect - I'm sure there are others ways, but until they figure them out, there's movies and tv.
this doesn't negate the need to do it. some people just naturally have a larger carbon footprint based on their career, number of offspring, etc. sure, it looks hypocritical, but that doesn't mean that they, and we, shouldn't recycle, use low-energy bulbs, install efficient weatherproofing, unplug unnecessary electrical items, and carpool or drive for better efficiency.
Global warming is a "hot button" topic of conversation and conservation right now and some celebrities are getting on board because it gets their name out there in the public eye. In some circles we would call this "cashing in" but to them it is simply another way of doing business.
