How can you tell the difference between implantation bleeding and your period? I have a very irregular cycle, so I have no way of knowing if its an early period... So, are there any ways to tell? How long should implantation bleeding last? And can a blood test from the doctor tell if I'm pregnant right now? HPT was negative...

Every woman is different. Some women actually experience period like bleeding for a day or so during implantation. I never experience any with three pregnancies. Home pregnancy tests won't really show anything until about a day before your missed period. If implantation has occured you are starting to produce HCG and it will show up on a blood test and not a HPT yet. Good Luck.

Implantation bleeding is very light in quantity and is almost always pink or brown. It lasts usually no more than a day or even a few hours. Menstration may start pink or brown but usually progresses to red blood and lasts for 3 days or more. Most woman do not experience implantation bleeding.

A blood test from your doctor is more accurate than an over the counter HPT.

Implantation bleeding is often much lighter than a "normal" period would be. It can last from 1-4 days.

Normally a blood test can be very accurate, especially about 2 weeks after conception.

I would wait a few days and then take another home test, or make an appointment with your doc for a blood test.

Good luck!

My implantation bleeding was very, very light pink discharge. When I saw it I thought well, I'll sure enough start my period by this afternoon. But never did....a month and a half later when I still hadn't gotten my period, I thought hmmmmm....maybe the doctors were wrong and I can get PG. Sure enough. I only saw it that one time that I went to the bathroom...there wasn't anymore pink later that afternoon.
