I wanted to die when I heard "Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer" over the speakers while I was shopping at Wal-Mart the other day.

Don't get me wrong, I'm probably the most spirited person you'll ever meet when it comes to the holidays (just ask my boyfriend about my decorating =D), but I can't get into the Christmas spirit anymore because I'm sick of it by the time it gets here!

I get upset too, you shouldn't be doing Christmas stuff until after Thanksgiving! It shows that the stores are only interested in your money, not the spirit of Christmas

it is a marketing strategy to get ppl " in the mood" to spend money. The holidays are all about spending $$$$$. It seems that it is not about the holiday anymore just a way to get ppl to part with their money. It used to be, the day after Thanksgiving, now the day after Halloween!?!?!? And the bit about the first heating bill?? Ok, Now THAT makes sense. Cuz when I pay that, gifts will have to wait till Dec. 1st. My heat is more importants to me than presents. Besides, my and hubby's X-mas doesn't come till February. ( tax- refund time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) So, the kids are coming firsat that time of the month, and I do my shopping at Wal-mart and dollar stores, and I do not use gift wrap. That is a waste of money. I use bows, gift bags, and some paper, not alot. I buy the kids what they need and want throughout the year so x-mas is kinda fun, but they know that the gifts are not the reason for the season.

it rather is with the aid of fact shops are not, have not been, and by no capacity would be in the grateful temper that's what Thanksgiving is all approximately. it rather is all on the subject of the good greenback. Sorry to rant slightly, yet November ought to be a time as quickly as we are grateful. Veteran's Day is approximately being grateful that human beings have saved this united states of america loose from outdoors oppression and tyranny (whether we will not do away with it in Congress, the Senate, or something of Washington DC). it is going to be approximately thinking what's important to you, the place you got here from to the place you're actually. it rather is approximately sharing those emotions and thoughts with human beings you care approximately. So whilst shops around the rustic want to pass this classic trip and leap headfirst into attempting to make greater funds for his or her CEO's wallet, I say screw them. i will start up my Christmas spirit in December. not till now. till then, it rather is all on the subject of the breasts and the thighs. (hi, you probably did not think of i might permit you bypass devoid of pulling you nearer to the gutter, Did You?)

The music starts way too early and then by the time the holiday actually is here, you want to scream if they play "Rudolf The Red Nose Reindeer" one more time. And these stores always play the worst of the holiday songs. And since Hanukkah is at that time too, isn't it just a bit politically incorrect to ONLY play X-mas music??? It does NOT get me in the holiday mood to hear that kind of holiday music!

Think of it this way. It's almost Thanksgiving...and what do people usually do on Thanksgiving and the day after? They decorate for Christmas and the day after Thanksgiving is the most popular X-mas shopping day around the country. So, obviously, stores are trying to sell their Christmas products, and seeing how Thanksgiving is only under 2 weeks away, there ya go. If stores just started bringing in their stock right before Christmas, it would never sell. Not to mention, you'd never have such nifty sales and get things dirt cheap if they brought their X-mas stock in too late.

I like Christmas music, but every year stores play it earlier. They also have Christmas gifts, trees, ornaments, wrapping paper, etc. on display at most dept. stores already also. I think that stores should wait until after Thanksgiving to start Christmas displays. Another thing is we have a son that turns 4 in March and doesnt understand Christmas is still so far away since all the displays are out.

No , your not the only one.The large out lets ( walmart, target& etc.)have to do this. It's called competition.I think it sucks but thats marketing for ya.I remember when I was hostling trailers at The Target D/C, I was opening trailer doors and the trailers would be full of imported merchandise from China & South America all targeted for Christmas sales at least 3 months in advance of the Christmas holidays. Walmart,Target,K Mart & others all have to do this in orded to compete and thats why you are hearing the holiday music so early.Ba Humbug.

I feel the same way. I am working in retail this year for the first time and we are decorating for Christmas this Wednesday. They explained it by saying that we are going to be so busy in a couple of weeks that this will be our only chance to decorate. Christmas music for 8 hours straight, 5 days a week will probably leave me wanting to kill myself by January.

I know. It's irritating. They have a reason for it, though. Studies show that Christmas music in stores gets people in the mood for Christmas and shopping. The economy in this country is screwed. It's getting worse and worse. The cost of living is rising, and our paychecks aren't. People aren't spending anywhere near as much money at the stores as they used to. Unless we have a revolution in our economy, expect to hear Christmas music earlier and earlier every year. BOOOOO.

It doesn't bother me, personally -- in fact, I'm already getting in the Christmas spirit; HOWEVER, I can understand why others say it's too soon. It really IS a bit early, isn't it? I mean, the Grinch and the Santa Clause were already on TV this weekend! (But, like I said, I LOVE IT! I could listen to it all year long!)

And I KNOW I'm going to read some b.s. on here about how the stores and capitalism are evil, but the simple fact is that stores have to be prepared to sell Christmas stuff when people are ready to buy it - and some people ARE ready to buy it. If you owned a store, you'd understand that competition is fierce, and if you want to feed your family, you have to be ready to sell what the market demands when it demands it.

And to the dude who said it "totally depresses" him -- YIPES! You must be a REAL DOWNER, DUDE!

And to gailsesk: Nothing more needs to be said, but AMEN!!
