The flag represents our hard won freedom. In every war when the battle was won, the flag was raised. It shows respect for our fore fathers, and our country. It tells our soldiers, "I'm there for you."
You don't have to understand it... We do it for National Pride.

As a veteran I can say without remorse that you can kiss my @$$. You want to come over to my house and put your finger in the hole left in my shoulder by a AK-47 round? How about we go to the family cemetery and see my relatives that fought and died in every war and conflict but Desert Storm. How about we go talk to my 84 year old Grandpa about what his sacrifice was during the war and what haunts him to this day about what he had to do. My flag waving is a personal thing I take very seriously. I as well as my family have fought for and respected the flag for what it stands for. It ain't always easy being a proud American when I see other countries that don't have it so good, but I'll never want to be anywhere else. The flag is an outward symbol of what I believe in and I shall continue to show it where ever I go.

the professor is spot on. this country hasn't exactly been fair to black people over the years if you haven't notice. so much that the very laws and constitutions they created after stealing this land from the native americans , they went against to treat black people like less than american citizens and less the human beings.

Americans fly the flag as a symbol of loyalty, honor, and pride. They love their country and they are proud to be an American.

Good for them. Its a massive country with over 300million citizens so its good that they promote pride and hopefully therefore unity. If you think about the different climates, and cultures that span across the USA, that piece of cloth represents
a lot, and its certainly right for them to love thier country.

It's giving observance to Veterans Day. Men and women who fought in wars for our country. It's not just a cloth with coloring. Its a tradition that's beautiful.

At least its better than the English who only display their flag for sporting occassions.
Oh, by the way, I'm English.

It is the symbol of our freedom and patriotism. We fly the flag because we are proud of where we live and who we are because of it.
