I don't know if it is Bush's fault but if overseas items become more expensive then more people should but home grown.

Actually the President does have the ability to devalue the dollar, just not directly. By promoting supposed free trade (which Bush does) and entering into what are falsely called 'free trade agreements' (which Bush does) the value of the dollar is lowered. This is because while we honor our side of free trade, most other countries offer a rebate to the company from the gov't for all goods exported. This hurts the value of our currency.
However it requires a lot of manipulation, so its unlikely you could get much else does as President if you were really trying to do this.

No, because we are in a recession now, or at the very least a economic slow down.
Borrowing billions from China has caused the dollar to devalued. Plus the Housing Market Burst.
Jobs are not being created for the vast majority. Companies like GM are cutting 5,000 jobs due to the economy.

we have a very expensive war going on...the stock market is unsteady because of private debt and people are beginning to worry about the trade deficit and the government spending deficit and borrowing....China is thinking about getting rid of the dollar from their treasury because it's shrinking...
If Bush is doing all this to bring tourists here he's an idiot. But the fact is that he doesn't set the value, everyone else does...he just starts wars and let a Republican Congress spend like drunken sailors....the Dems have been in control (just barely) of Congress for about one year...they do not have the power to over ride a veto without some Republicans jumping ship....so Bush is still in control....it's the policy and spending of the last 8 years that got us here.

Bush doesn't have the power to control the value of the US dollar. Next you'll be blaming him for your lack of education.

The president doesn't have control over monetary policy. The Fed. does.
And, from all the conspiracy nuts on YA, I thought the Fed was controlled by the Illuminati.
