My four month old has been moaning or whining for a few days now. When a few days ago he would sit in his walker or play pad quietly, he is now making these noises like he's moaning or whinning for minutes at a time, and Im concerned it is a sign of something being wrong. Or is it just him testing his voice? Please help...

Sweetie keep an eye out for feaver. If there is none good.
Babys cut teeth at all different ages. It can be real uncomfortable. Or he may have gas. Do you have a baby swing? He may just need to feel motion . If you can bundle him uup and take him outside for a little air some of the time it makes them sleep better. He does not have a burning diaper rash does he? a nice semi warm bath relases baby and helps them rest too. Make sure he is not eating too much. Some people turn off the phone and keep the tv noises at a minimum.. I think it is good to let everyday noises go on. It gives baby a since of normalcy. It is a secure feeling to know there is someone around. Do not cater to whimpering but watch closely for any unuseual behaiveior.

My 4 month old daughter was exactly the same. nothing i was doing would make her happy, so out of exhaustion i lay her in her bassinette to cry, while i was a few meters away and talked calmly 2 soothe her. She fell asleep after a few minutes. This happened for a couple days, now she is fine. Turns out she was just over tired. She is in the routine of having an extra sleep during the days now.

I'm not sure. But since you are concerned, do you have a support group you can talk to? I'm thinking of other mothers in your town. Also, if you are really concerned, why not call his doctor's office and ask? If they think there is something wrong, they'll set up an appointment to see him. Finally, I know there are a lot of books about babies out there. Maybe drop by a bookstore or library and ask for a recommendation?
