his name on them and they were awarded to him in the unforunate circumstances of his death.
i want to try and track these and apreciate it could be a long unsucessful effort but do you have any idea where i could start?

try this website. it allows you to enter the medals you are looking for. It is a medal tracker you may have some luck.

Your medals will almost certainly be with a collector. The names are normally inscribed around the edge of the medal. You could try listing something similar on EBay and asking if any collector has the named medals, but you will probably have to pay a high price to get them back!.

I would have helped if you had stated what country and branch of service your uncle served in,and a list of what the medals were .

I know its not ideal but contact the MOD and ask for replacements, they will have records of award and may charge you for them. I lost my Northern Ireland and i was able to sort like this..

try well known collections and his old regiment. medals aheva way of finding their way 'home'.
