Well, you shuld get a fish tank with a filter. It costs more but then your fish will live much much longer. You should just get a normal goldfish. I had one and it lived for 5 years which is a really long time for a goldfish. I am a animal expert, so if you need anymore help, E-mail me at sparklegirl166@yahoo.com or go on chat with me. Hope this helps!!!:D

Some type of filter or even a bubble stone will help in the tank. Goldfish bowls need to be changed more frequently then a tank, especially without a filter. However, if you just want a basic set up and dont mind changing the water every week or other week, then just get a small simple goldfish. Even a small fantail is fine if your bowl is large. But eventually it may outgrow the space or need more filtration and oxigenation of the water as it gets bigger.

Good Luck.

No goldfish at all. Fancy goldfish can grow up to a foot and need no less that 20 gallons with excellent filtration.

Comet (regular) goldfish can grow up to 2 feet and need a 55 gallon tank with an excellent canister filter.

The bes thing you could do with that bowl is put in a filter and heater and put in a betta. Although bettas need 5 gallons to live in, it could survive in a bowl if it had a filter and heater.

E-mail me for any questions!

How large?
A small Oranda goldfish is pretty.
Now I will say a small not look like this picture and it may not once it grown. This a good picture.

I should add; I always use an air pump, even for my Siamese Fighting Fish (Betta). Small air stone and a valve control with at least 2 valves. One I can adjust for small bubbles for the fish or connect to a small Bio-Filter. The other valve I use to bleed excess air from the pump (It seems to help my pumps last longer).

I would recoomend nothing more than shrimps and snails. Unless you get a filter and a heater, you can't put even just a betta in there. A (fancy) goldfish wouldn't even last in that bowl.

I would recommend that you get at least a 5 gallons tank or bowl with heater and filters.
