I believe a sad difference between Conservatives and Liberals is that the former would never be satisfied winning by default. We want the satisfaction of knowing that our hard work and persuasive arguments prevailed.

With Liberals, they seem to care little if at all about how they won. If the Republican Presidential candidate suffered a major heart attack on election eve, I suspect they'd be partying like they really won on their own merits.

The Liberal situation seems to be analogous to this: Imagine you are a tennis player like Anna Kournikova. Every time you are in a match, you get paired against some practically invincible powerhouse like Martina Hingis or Venus Williams.

I'm sure that, at some point, Anna Kournikova would begin lamenting, "Sheesh, why can't I ever have a match against someone like Pam Shriver?"

Well, if all the Conservatives are gone from this venue, practically all you've got left is a bunch of Pam Shrivers. Easy wins. Get the point?

Liberals have enormous difficulty matching Conservatives in a fair debate of ideas. Conservatives just seem to naturally be more eloquent. Our ideas are persuasive. Liberals seethe with anger because they can't win in an open forum. They are trying to get as many Conservative accounts deleted as they can in an effort to impose their own brand of "The Fairness Doctrine".

I don't understand the rationale behind reporting people. There used to be a guy on this venue (and to comply with Yahoo policy of not naming names, I will refer to him in code as "loony bananas"). This guy is my total opposite. He practically never gave me Best Answer, but I kept coming back because at least he had a sense of mirth and whimsy. He wasn't some tediously serious person who can't take a joke. He brought some levity to the Politics section. After dozens of accounts, I think he just gave up. It is our loss.

For those of you who oppose a different point of view, and think victory can be had by eliminating the competition, let me suggest you think of it this way: if you were an Olympic athlete in the 1970's and Russia boycotted the games, would you really feel the Gold Medal you got was the unblemished, sweet victory you imagined it to be? The absolute knowledge that, at that point in time you were really the best in the world?

Or would you suspect, and perhaps quite rightly, that some unfortunate competitor in Vladivostock would have beaten you, and that your medal is something of a fraud.

I agree.

You always need representation from the other side whether it be conservative or liberal to have a good democracy and political debate.

In answer to your question, realistically, I conclude that not all conservatives will leave.

So not all conservatives may leave.

But too many may.

It's a shame to see the loss of top contributor respectable conservatives and liberals from this forum.

The sad part is as many leave, many more unknowingly come in. It's a vicious cycle that YA seems to like.
No one knows from day to day if they will be the next to receive 32 violations in 6 minutes. (Tell me there's not something wrong with that scenario). Someone answered one of my questions for the first time, and I held my breath waiting for the axe.
It's not a partisan thing either. Both seem to be going but I'll admit con's are the biggest causality at this time. I have found a place that there is civil debate without the attacking...it's been rather nice to get to know the people I'm been communicating with for a year now.
YA may become a place for trolls, if that happens let them all eat each other.

The problem is that there is a handful on each side making the rest of us look bad. I have only received a couple of violations, and they were from the same person on the same day. People report because they disagree or want to become Top Contributor. It's childish and needs to stop. I suggested before that we should figure out who it is, and everyone block them. This way, those of us who are here to debate can do so without the trolls. Otherwise, we'll all lose our accounts at sometime or another.

As far as Libs, we're looking for some level headed ones to join a new group. If you're interested, email me to see what it is. We want those who are not trolls, and are not afraid to debate.

It is sad that when I first joined here, the majority of posters here appeared to be dems and I felt I was in the minority battling the liberal theology. Then, over time it changed and I no longer felt I was standing against the tide.

But the recent suspensions have turned everything back around again and I am left wondering if this isn't just the normal Y/A tactic to once more put down the strenght of the conservative 'majority' viewpoint. Similar to what is said about the American media as a whole.

Never happen. As the world turns we watch and get caught in the politics of our own freedoms of speech. Censorship is becoming an increasing concern. The Senate & Congress already working on limitations for us. Talk Radio & Internet. savetheinternet.com ? Yahoo rats out a Chinese defector?
We had a guy on here wacking away at them a month ago from Taiwan? Any one remember? Posted in each category up to Politics and then Legal ... cut and paste pages of accusations.
October 17, 2007 He spoke of Lu Cheng Hsiung , Kwan Jin, President Chen's US bank accounts... ties to two Presidents ?
The International access here is overwhelming right now. I have a fan from Iran. It is amazing the power information sharing presents. Both sides of the aisle from nation to nation. When petty ness shuts one of us down it is shame on the community. And may I add pay back is a B*itch. These massive violations shall return on their heads. Y!A Team is swamped as I can tell. But we wait. Several are back. Multiply is not as much fun. My thoughts sorry for the extended dialogue!

I've had questions and answers deleted before, but not an account. I have no idea why Suthrnlyts was deleted? She's been here forever. Several others have been too over the past 2 weeks. I thought Yahoo was taking care of "reporting trolls"?

Personally, I do not see why there is a politics section at all if those in charge are not going to allow those of all affiliations and viewpoints the same platform to express their opinions. How can you learn anything at all when everyone is mimicking the same tired talking heads and their meaningless rhetoric. This is precisely why I stopped posting in politics on a regular basis. The lack of tolerance and inability to be open minded are displayed here on a daily basis.

Most of us that can access a networking site will remain here. Others have left to "Multiply" but they have access to the network at all times. I have an account there and it's Troll Free!!! It's awesome to see libs and cons get along and "talk" to each other respectfully.

why is it the mitt Romney lovers are also Clinton haters when mitt Romney is most famous for `free health care`?! Thought of the Moment:
