you can both on plaster boards ..but for the amateur its best to use board finish ..board finish is a more open plaster where as multi is a creamery plaster and as such does not have as much suction there fore it does not dry as quick in the initial stages ..so you will have a tendency to trowel it too early and then it will bubble ..multi is usually used on a browning sub base..i use multi all the time on plaster boards as i can get 3 or 4 walls on at a time because it takes that little bit longer to dry

MULTIFINISH CAN BE USED ON EITHER PLASTER, PLASTERBOARD OR RENDER WHEREAS BOARD FINISH CAN ONLY BE USED ON PLASTERBOARD.
