The fall can come at any time.

The implication of this saying is that the fall is the result of the pride. You can be too proud to see the things that can cause the fall. The saying counsels humility as the counter to pride leading to the fall.

I'm not sure who "we" is, but I believe I have enough humility to avoid a personal fall. If you mean our society, I think we beat ourselves up pretty badly and hopefully the fall will be avoided.

I don't like that saying...because when I was in grade seven, there was a mean girl in our class that frightened all our classmates with that saying AND she would also threaten us with a ''knuckle sandwich.'' hahaha
