Christmas in and of itself is not stressful. It is whatever you make it out to be, including the stress involved. The media and stores don't force you to buy anything. You yourself choose whether or not to give into the peer pressure of spending so much money that you've gone into debt or whatever the case may be. No one is holding a gun to your head to do so. If you procrastinate, there's another leading stressor. Christmas is not stressful for alot of people because they don't give in to that pressure to buy buy buy for everyone they've ever met and they don't put things off to the last possible second and then scream at the store employees because something is out of stock. Only you can decide if you're going to have a stressful or non-stressful holiday and then do what you have to in order to make it that way.

Because I gotta shower, do my nails, comb my hair, find that perfect perfume, keep in shape so I look good in my Xmas lingerie, clean the house because we'll have company, baste the turkey because nobody else wants to do it, walk the lawn, mow the dog, milk the roof, redo the mailbox, read the TV, watch the newspaper, cook the rug, shampoo the oven, spray air freshener in every room, dust the bed, make the floor, go to the presents, buy the store, wrap the cookies, bake the presents, and then finally set the table for when company arrives... all in a 10 minute timeframe.

Bob D. You obviously do not have to provide a party atmosphere, place to sleep, meal for 20 people, gifts, gift wrapping, cleaning house, and all the normal things mothers have to do anyway.
holidays can be stressful for some people.
I finally drew the line. No more. I said, this is a time for rest and reflection; and let someone else have all the stress.
So I planned a trip to a nice warm, relaxing locale for three days; packed the bags, and the morning we were to leave, woke everyone up, had the shuttle ready at the door, fed them breakfast and off to the airport. they were surprised, it was a nice gift and we all came home refreshed.
if you are a kid, and all you have to do is expect a gift, of course there is no stress.

Christmas is too stressful for the people who take everything too seriously. It's supposed to be the time of year to feel as giddy as you did when you were younger. It's like being a Bridezilla...why would you want to stress out about every miniscule detail when you could be enjoying what the occasion has to offer?

Anything is stressful that you allow other people to dictate.
If you don't let the stores tell you what to buy. Your in laws tell you where to celebrate. Greedy people tell you what they have to have for presents, and the boss tell you what parties you have to go to. Christmas can be an amazingly restful and enjoyable time. Do it YOUR way.

Yeah, I don't see the stress. I do sometimes feel a little stressed if I don't have enough money to get people the presents I want to get them. But not so much that it ruins the holiday. I just get them what I can.

Christmas is streesful only to those who procrastinate, and do everything at the most inopportune time.
