America's unpopularity?? Where? Have you heard none of the new French leader's Praise for the US. In fact most of Europe is very friendly with the U.S., as is Canada. In-fact the only people that don't like the U.S. are terrorists and extremists that mis-use religion to control the minds of the people they enslave. Hugo Chavez doesn't like the U.S. as well; but he is an idiot. I am sorry, but you picked the wrong day to ask such a silly question. You see, I am a Veteran of of 20 years of service in the USAF. Where you take some blurb of American hatred spoken by some mis-guided and give it complete creditability; I have seen the faces of people liberated by the U.S. either directly or indirectly over the last several decades. The fall of the Berlin wall, the re-unification of Germany, the freedom of Kuwait, from Saddam Hussein, and the Freedom of the Iraq people themselves from that terrible, murdering, dictator! Please rethink your question, and just where the World would be right now if not for the U.S...Starting with the fact that we are not all speaking German!

The Americans' preponderance to use military to solve global problems has caused a rift among former friendly nations and the blame lies solely on the elected officials who have acted before assembling a strong coalition.

I hope and pray that Barack Obama keeps plugging the fact that many have voted for war along with the administration to the detriment of all Americans.

The problem is politicians find ways to conceal responsibility.

If you are talking about our popularity worldwide, then it is the foreign policy establishment that was incubated in the Cold War. These are the perennial "Intelligence" (CIA), State department, liberal and conservative think tank people who create the continuity from one administration to the next.

Fox News and the conservative media certainly don't do us any favors with their shrill, uber-patriotic war and hate mongering. The conservative media only serves as the echo chamber for the imperialism pushed by the entities mentioned in the first paragraph.

The causes are the waning of U.S. economic strength, coupled with the disappearance of the Soviet Union, which left the United States unrivaled militarily. U.S. military spending is more than twice its share of world output. Putting this “comparative advantage” to work is the centerpiece in a grand strategy of forging a “New American Century.” It means enhancing U.S. control of strategic assets while depriving potential global and regional competitors from controlling the same assets, thereby guaranteeing a long period of U.S. global supremacy. But to do this the U.S. empire has to be more aggressive and expansive, taking “preemptive” actions against so-called “rogue states.” It also means that the United States increasingly finds it necessary to brandish its nuclear might.

War in perpetuity is neo-liberalism gasping for survival. It is a gasping that necessitates paying for such folly forever. Get ready as neo-liberalism leads the world to a neo Great Depression followed by the next "great" restructuring of global capitalism by way of World War III.

the government and some Americans.
they will always be some dislike of Americans because they "force" there culture on other countries, but the fact that America is one of the least diplomatic countries docent help at all. most of the conservatives also portray America in a bad light because they seem to fear outsiders and are sceptically about world issues such as global warming. the us not signing the Kyoto agreement was another way that america told the world that it dosent care.

I would say the Liberals. They're the ones who don't know how to stand by their country. It started with the Vietnam war, and their protesting. They didn't do it to save anyone's life, like they claimed, it wasn't for love of the Troops, like they claimed, if it were, why did a lot of them spit on our Vets? They're protesting the war in Iraq, not because they want to save lives, as they claim, but for attention, and to hurt a Republican administration, to get their party into the White House, even at the cost of America's integrity, and honor. The rest of the world sees this. If you turn against your family at the drop of a hat because they're not doing what you think they should do, then there is no loyalty, no love, and no respect. Liberals have none of these attributes for country.
The war in Iraq, nor Vietnam was supposed to be political, but the Liberals made them so, and has hurt America, her Troops, our sanctity of honor, respect from other Nations, and themselves. They don't know what the phrase "United We Stand, Divided We Fall" means. Tragic, isn't it?

America's unpopularity is a myth. More people immigrate to the United States than any other country on the planet. There is a vocal minority who hates us and because they are louder than the people who like us or who don't care, people get the false impression that the rest of the world hates America. It simply isn't true.
