www.askmen.com is the best for gents.

I've quite a pure straight male. Live with 2 brothers, attended all boys school for 10 years, so im rather male-ly.

Look up all the manly behaviours, learn to walk straight.

When checking your nails, bend them inwards towards you.

Carry yourself with a heavy weight, do not let your posture be as flimsy as some girls.

Learn to think of yourself as a man, stand straight, get manly clothes.

When you walk, walk straight, not cross legged. For a few days, just be concious of how you walk and things like that.

When a man dance, he is serious and a little flirtatious only, none of those thigh dances. I guess you should want to stick to slow dances now and keep your movements tight and nice.

When you speak, carry a certain weight in your voice. Dont go off airy fairy. When a man speaks, he makes a point.

ON THE SIDE NOTE.

Even though i have lived with guys almost all of my life,
I do some stuff like learning how to cook too, or supermarket shopping. Its all ok, just so long as you are a man. CHEERS and goodluck, fellow man.

Watch and imitate the behaviors of people that you respect. It may sound a little bit corny, but Anthony Robbins has a segment on this approach in his book, Unlimited Power. He suggests when trying to sell or persuade someone that you try empathetic listening. Try to get a sense of the other persons pacing, style, energy level, mannerisms. Try to focus so hard on what they are doing and how they are doing it that you start to imitate their style yourself. You can't do this in an artificial way of course. It has to be genuine. But if you practice it a bit you can start to really develop a good rapport with them.

I like to study other people's behavior in negotiations that I am in, and incorporate the best stuff into my own approach. When I started this I followed the advice of keeping a journal and noting what I was observing in other people's approaches that I really liked -- everything from favorite phrases, to pace, to energy level, to how much they paused to listen to others.

Another idea might be to try out for your local theatre group. That can often be an eye opening experience to habits that you have gotten into unconsciously that distract from your communication effectiveness. A good drama coach will point those out to you and show you some ways to get them out of your unconscious style.

Its gonna take alot of practice. You have been raised around estrogen. You need to watch some manly dudes and act like them. Or you can come to the conclusion that you are gay. Just kidding. It's kinda hard to change after you've been raised in that atmosphere for so long.

Immerse yourself in old Clint Eastwood and John Wayne movies. Watch how they act and talk and move. Mimick them purposely.

Don't worry about it, it is who you are. Are you going to try to go through life imitating some "macho" type of behavior? True friends will recognize you for who you are. Charades never work.

I know how frustrating this could be but you can overcome that by dealing only with rough men for a long time.
