I see no problem as long as you offer some footies at the door for their feet. If it is the first time at your house I would not make a big deal about it. Usually people will get the idea when they see other folks taking off their shoes and putting on slippers or socks.
The only time it has really make me uncomfortable is when viewing houses on the market. Here I am considering their home for purchase and the floors and carpets are so easily dirtied that I can't even wear my shoes.

Yes, it would. I'm always barefoot, but as anyone reading the responses to those barefoot questions will know, many people are just as uncomfortable barefoot as I would be wearing shoes. I think people should be free to wear or not wear whatever they want, and I will defend a person who prefers to wear shoes just as strongly as I will defend my preference to be barefoot.
I can understand those people who don't want outside dirt (although I personally think a house is meant to be lived in, and I would never want to live in a showroom-type place with a sparkling white carpet). But they should be okay with indoor slippers, socks, etc if someone doesn't want to be barefoot.

Yes, it would. My sister-in-law began a policy of no shoes in her house--because she got a new carpet. We realized that she enjoyed the carpet more than us--so we let her.

I live in Alaska, where shoes and boots (and cars!!) get very muddy and dirty. A lot of people here make you take your shoes off, and no one thinks anything of it.
Now, if only we could get our dogs to wipe their feet...

First off it is not sanitary! But... it is the persons right in their own home and I would respect that right if we were on "visiting terms". How "close" we were would determine the frequency of visits.
All feet are not ugly!

I tend to have cold tootsies and like to wear socks, so yes, I would find it uncomfortable.
