For the night time race at Singapore, will the cars have headlights or will the track just be floodlit like a football pitch

If it's just floodlit it's not going to be much different is it, will just be like a daytime race with a black sky and I dont know why Bernie making such a big fuss about it

not so daft a Q really. I think it will be totally floodlit. fitting headlights to F1 cars would be hell for the aero engineers. I'm totally with you, it seems like a pointless exercise having night races. All because Bernie Fat Wallet wants races to be shown at European times. Any die-hard F1 fan will get up early or stay up late to watch the non European races, I do, and it really doesn't bother me at all.

It's not a daft question. Rather, you can't put headlights on F1 cars because at 320km/h, the bulb would blast and it only would cover 10-20 m only. So they are using floodlights that they say would be 4 times brighter than the ones used for a football field. Italian company Valerio Maioli has already been contracted to do the lights.

It will be both I'm sure. Flood lights so the drivers can see and there will be back and I suspect fron lights on the cars...the front lights like the will be for the benefit of the drivers - so that the back markers can see Kimi or Lewis flying up behind them.
I am of course just speculating as I have no insider info...but I am looking forward to it.

Id expect it to be floodlit. Wont be much good for spectators to watch a few light buzzing around

it will be amazing there is something special about night races, the colors on the car will pop against the darker back ground. the break rotors with glow hrom the hear and the exhaust will glow with fire as the car shipts or slows

The race is going to be at night the cars will have back lights but i dont think the will have lights its to small the front.Its going to be with lights everywhere.That is going to be amazing that race who u think might win? Hamilition OR kimi or Alonso or someone else.

I assume it will only be floodlights, if they planned on using headlights we would have read about it by now and i don't know where on the car they would be able to find space for it.

They will be using floodlights but I'm curious to see if there will be any problems with shadows from walls or buildings.
