Yes. Dogs are very observant and know what things you do that lead to you walking out the door and leaving them behind. They notice that when you do certain things (like pick up keys and put on your coat) that the next action you take is to leave. Dogs are extremely aware of what happens around them

African dog yeah but American dog now, they depends on someone to take care of them so they don't know if you had it what them or if you leaving them but Africans dog they know the situation and they know when you don't like them anymore they just go and find another family and yeah they can depends on their self. they don't need any help from anyone and beside is African dog. the wild place where dog can do what ever they want unlike Americans do. they have dog food, nursing hospital, place to sleep and what ever they want but wild dog are way different. you don't believe me, just go to Africa and raise a dog and take him or her to anywhere like 20 or 30 miles away from home. they can come back on their own. they don't get lost easily. I'm an American but i once travel to Africa and raise a dog myself and he was a lot smarter than my American dog floppy. sorry to be a downer but I'm telling the truth.

Oh yes.... Mine even wait for me to give them a cookie before I go out of the door. They also know when I am coming home... they are waiting at the door when I pull into the drive way.

Yes they do! Mine are always alert to anyone touching a jacket, car keys or the the door handle. They always look so abused when we go out the door :)

mine does. he can even tell the difference between my slippers, work-out shoes and going out shoes.
it's funny to see him go lie down when he knows i'm getting ready to work-out or start bouncing around the door when he knows i'm getting ready to leave.

Yes! when I'm going on vaca. she paces around and then she'll lie down by the door and pout. they're not stupid.
