emiss his last paragraph may have a point but "we" are remembering brave men/women who have fallen in the service of their country.

Dr Watson with all due respect your an idiot! This day is more than just the Iraq War. Would you have sent home the troops during 1st world war and rolled over to Hitler in the second? What ever your believe is all you are doing is remembering the fallen!

You bet I will, and so will my children. None of us would be here today if it werent for the vets.
But I'm not only doing this for them, but for the soldiers today who are dying.
So many lives lost... I wish this world was a better place.
Lest we forget.

I will. I don't know how successful I will be as my 2 year old toddler will be about but we will try.
I think everyone should - it really isn't to much to ask.
I used to work for a big bank, on the phones. For the tsunami 3 minute silence they stopped all calls coming into the centre and played a message telling customers we were observing a 3 minute silence out of respect. For the 11-11-11 they done nothing. I took my phone of line, along with some other colleges, to observe it and we got disciplined for it. They said they didn't officially observe the remembrance day silence in case it offends someone - how on earth can it offend anyone???

Absolutely. It is important that we remember the millions of soliders lost during the first and second world wars but also the soldiers currently fighting. We must also not forget the other wars where our soldiers have died helping others - Bosnia etc. Even for the soldiers that survive, their lives are often tortured forever with the memories of friends and colleagues lost in battle and the most horrific scenes they must have witnessed. We must never forget.

Despite negative answers, I and others will respect the 2 minute silence as a time of reflection on those who have made the ultimate sacrifice. I will also be thankful that I am here to pay my respects to fallen comrades, I survived, they didn't.

Despite your comments about Cowboy there is much truth in his thinking, I lived through world war 2. and my father died through world war 1. and the veterans have always been treated abysmally by governments, I totally respect the hero's, but as long as the government can sidestep their responsibility by using the generosity of the people they will continue to do so

no american can be silent for 2 mins.
This is for Canadians and Brittish right? LOL.
I honor the moment of silence...which for an american is like 15 sec.
Sometimes I wonder if it wouldn't be more meaningful if we held a rememberence that involved people making a lot of noise. That way we can all feel a little more connected...if you can hear other people all over your neighborhood making a fuss. There again...maybe that's because I'm american.
Cheers.
