Not fighting a war is no criteria - because a small beside a giant nation hardly has the war option open.

Also, when there is a balance of power (as in today's Europe), there is hardly any reason or incentive for war. Also if you look into the past, the Crusade Wars of Europe are a black dot in their history.

A peaceful nation must be one that has the ability to go into war. A nation that can gain out of a war - and yet it remains peaceful.

A peaceful nation is one which may have been attacked - but in time, the attackers were also absorbed in the peaceful ways of the country.

There is only one country that fits the bill. That's INDIA.

India was attacked by Persians - who left their Islam in India and enriched the nation. India is at peace with all Muslim countries (except maybe one upstart neighbour). The british ruled over India for 200 years and bled the economy white. India is at peace with UK.

India has never attacked any other nation. And if you know history, when Pakistan attacked India, Indian army had reached upto Lahore - but gave up the area.

And who's the most violent? You decide.
Which country used Nuclear option?
Which country attacked other countries in the name of peace?

That's a hard question. Every nation has had some violence in its past or present, such as a civil war, external war, ethnic cleansing, or high violent crime rates.

The "most peaceful nation" may not be peaceful for good reasons. Perhaps it is simply too weak to wage war on its neighbors.** Or maybe it's a fascist police state where peace is enforced at the cost of freedom.

Finally, a lot would depend on what time frame you're talking about. Some nations may have had violent pasts but are peaceful now, or vice versa.

united statesa. is available in exceedingly low on the checklist of the happiest human beings on earth--nicely, perhaps no longer so exceedingly. The predominately atheist international locations of northern Europe are staggering places to stay. You step off the airplane and "Ahhhhh!" a large weight looks lifted out of your shoulders. i like Sweden, Finland, Netherlands...such spectacular human beings.
