Technology, foods, bigger and better methods of transport, advances in communications leading to faster idea and file sharing. Capitalism and the economy. Cheaper labour overseas, etc. There are absolutely loads of things that cannot be possibly mentioned here.
What you really have to ask though is, are all these things good or bad??
I'd suggest a bit of research into the meaning of globalisation. You'll be amazed by how much material there is out there!

Improvements on transportation of goods. Today, merchandise moves more economically and reliably than a century ago.
Electronics lead to more elaborate machines.
