My daughter is just over 2 this year so hubby and I will spend Christmas Eve getting her presents organized under the tree. Hubby actually has to go next door to our neighbour's house (where a couple of the bigger presents are hidden) and put them together. *lol* After all of that is done we'll relax together and talk about past Christmas Days. I love doing that!

After gettting all the presents put out and making sure the place is clean and the decorations are finished I look at the clock and think "!@#$ is it that time already?!". Before crawling into bed hoping that for once my husband's brother who stays with us on Christmas Eve will sleep in instead of waking up before 6 and waking everyone else up - I really need more than 2 hours sleep.

I go for a long walk, dream of Christmas' past and hope Santa knows that I have left Texas and moved to Chongqing, China.
I hope that God does not forget that I am here too! Because wherever I am, it is the spirit of the Living Christ that I think of most during Christmas Eve.
This will be my first Christmas alone in 55-years. Reading some of these responses is literally bringing a tear to my eye. Thank you all for sharing such wonderful moments.

We don't have children either; we always wrap a present for our animals. Kind of silly? No, because they give so much of themselves to us. The last thing we do before going to bed on Christmas Eve is to thank god for the gift of His blessed son.

I pray with my children...and put cookies and milk for santa...(even though i have to get up and eat it myself)....Just to see how exciting my kids faces look is a blessing. Being a single mom and being able to provide the things they asked Santa for makes me happy...and even more greatful for....I lay in bed thinking and thanking God... that my kids are going to wake up and be able to run to see if there is any gifts under the tree and then run back to wake me up with an excitement to see how many presentes there is for them. As well as them seeing an empty plate and glass screming on how santa ate their home made cookies,.... That is what makes me want to work hard all year long...for xmas....This moment is "PRICELESS"

Since I go to midnight Mass on Christmas Eve, I don't go go to bed on Christmas Eve. Normally I either go back to a friend's house and we open a bottle of Champagne and consume smoked salmon, or they all come back to my place and we do the same.

Help Santa put out his gifts for my family members. Make sure he eats his cookies. Leave the bedroom door cracked open, so the little kiddies won't destroy the house before I hear them in the morning. Always leave the lights on, on the tree.
