Spain's King told Venezuela's dictator to "shut up" when Chavez started to say that a former prime minister was a "fascist". This was during a summitt of Latin-American countries. Do you think that our government will be partial to Spain now that they have been outspoken to a potential enemy of the US?

I thought it was pretty hilarious. I just finished reading the article and I think Hugo Chavez deserved it. He is always trying to be controversial and is always running his mouth about everyone. It's about time someone shut him up. But I doubt it will make any type of big impact between the US and Spain after this little fiasco.

As of up to 2 years ago I visited Caracas frequently in business matters, trust me, what you see on the TV is not what most local people from Caracas can tell you. Yes the gas is at about .19cents per gallon, but other than that people find it very hard to meet their responsability. The sentiment is that as the goverment started to over take most of the infracstructure of business and making it part of the goverment, so has its economy been debilitated. And, such acts do not represent a positive outcome to the people of Venezuela. Just because he is loud and disrespectfull to other leaders, no matter what country or ideology it does not translate to a betterment of his people. I live in the US and although I do not like my president, I know for a fact that in about 1 year there is a great chance that he will no longer be seating in the white house. Can the people of Venezuela say the same, when Mr. Chavez is adopting the country's constitution to his will. It was about time that someone told him that enough is enough and shut up. Not entirely sure that its the way that it should had been done. But it was surelly effective. And please lets not forget that the only reason he currently has "apperant backing from other leaders" is because he sell them oil at a discount to buy their support.

Good show! Although I do not agree that Chavez is a socialist. He's just mascarading as a socialist to get popular support. He is a complete idiot as is anyone voting for him, Viva el rey!

It would have been much more effective in combination with a swift smack in the chops...US/Spain relations, things won't change in that regard.

It's about time someone told that jerk to shut it. I don't think it will change anything as far as US/Spanish policy.
