deal with their period if they didn't have pads or tampons?

They used rags. It depends how old you're talking. I know in about 1920, they had really old school sanitary pads, and i also know african women long ago put rolled up rags up there.

Wow! Am I psychic? Before the page opened and displayed your question, I was thinking that this would be the question.

Anyway, where I live, they used cloth.
So, they probably had to change a lot! Haha!
What about asking your grandmother or something?

I wonder when pads were invented lol

The term on the rag came from women using old rags to sop up the blood.

Rags. They had a rag chest where you would put in old rags to be used again (washed of course).

Ever hear the phrase, "She is on the rag."?
