They are actually quite different. Dream is the most tenuous of the synonyms hope, & wish. Hope "may" be well-founded in probability, or completely beyond the pale of possibility. Wish is less plausible than hope, & dream even less. Think of dream as a fantasy--our imaginations divorced from reality. To have dreams is healthy, (& fun), as long as one doesn't get fixated on them & believe they will come true.
Aim refers to an intention, effort put into a goal not open to doubt, to have in mind the "doing" of some act to attain the goal/purpose. It's taking action to achieve reality.
I "dream" of going to the moon, I "aim" to finish typing my psychological profile on my newest client.
You have a good week, too! Hey, Monday is a holiday!
Edit: Having looked at the answers, most people link dreams to aims. In essence, "If we don't AIM for the DREAM, it will never come true." My definitions were basic, not intermingled, & in my experience, I've found this best for clarity--enjoyment of dreams, & not high expectations of them, as well as putting one's energies into what is feasible.

Dreams are completely personal, embodiments of person's wishes, desires and best of all that a person is made of, whereas aims are what we have between ourselves and the world around us, the world where our dreams are often realised through our aims. Dreams and aims are different, but they are also interlinked, as no dream could be a happy dream if the dreamer would make no efforts to bring it to reality, or to become internally realised in the mind in some elevated and idealised formed, and thus influencing the rest of the proceedings of life at large.
The fact is that life in its entirety is a dreams that sometimes we interpret through our sense of divinity and sometimes just objectively materialistically. Throughout our life, however, we keep dreaming immensely, it is just that we always understand our dreams according to the reach of the awareness of our being. Whereas our aims, we formulate only when we realised a just need to do so in relation what we encounter or deal with in the world that we gradually become.
We come into this world as a dream, make efforts to make it our home, and then we return to the unknown worlds of dreams that we nurture while alive, if we aim properly in life the journey could be for more pleasant and purposeful. We could still have our dreams intact by the time we leave.

Hi,
In some respects they can be the same, in others they differ.
To dream is to aspire or to hope. Someone might dream of being manager of their company. Not acting on that dream keeps it nothing but a dream. Someone might aim to be manager of the company and to put effort into that aim could help them achieve their dreams and aspirations. All interlinked but without effort, without knowing how to work towards the aim, the dream might never be realised.
A good question.

A dream is a hope or aspiration or something you desire and requires no effort. Aim is a direction towards a goal or purpose and requires effort. They can go together but are not the same thing. You can Aim for your Dream.

Nice question!
Dream cannot be achieved without you aiming it. Dream will remain as a dream. Aim triggers that dream to be put transformed into reality.
Aims cements the dream we wanted to be. Aim is the servant of dream, it is the underlying factor of dream. Dream is free and aim is the barrier that will serve as a wall to the former.
Thanks for asking. Have a great day!

Aim is something you plan to achieve, for instance "I aim to becoming an engineer and now i am in college."
Dream is something you wish for, and may or may not be on your way to making it true. "I dream on becoming a rock star, but I am on my way to becoming an engineer." You can only fantasize about it and never actually do something to making it happen. On the other hand, you might dream of becoming a rock star, while actually working on it.... it would be both your aim and your dream.

I believe an aim is something material, such as an a on your report card, or riding 3 miles on your bicycle. A dream, in this matter of speaking, is something deaper. Such as love, purpose, recognization...
