Thankyou for the person who said that we Aussies would be next, but I think its more realistic to look at China. They've got the resources, political will and economy to do it.
Russie will be powerfull as Putin gets it back into line and India will soon be at a crossroads where it will either blossom or sink back into a mess (might depend on what happens in Pakistan as well). The EU would be a good candidate also if they can get over their various nationalities and work together.
My money's on China.

You'd have to go with the European Union, although it consists of several European countries. Certainly they have the manpower, they have large and strong economies, most member nations such as UK, France, Germany, etc boast high quality of life, they have good security and defense and I think right now, Euro is doing pretty good compared to the US dollar.
European Union aside, go with China and India. Certainly they have the manpower, it's just poverty and their respective governments' actions make it impossible for them to thrive, but clearly it's inevitable.

I would say Australia. They are growing rapidly fast, have taken the means of a strong economy, and separated themselves from most parts of international conflicts.
Australia has extreme potential and a strong ally to Britain and the United States. If the USA was destroyed, I'd head for Canada or Australia.
