what will happen to me? jail? um , should i file for bankruptcy if I cant pay and I am in debt with other stuff? any help would be awesome. I would pay it slowly but they are demanding court fees, and lawyer fees. I am not in the same state either, so this is the first I have caught wind of this since I lost the car. HELP!

You do owe the difference. Filinjg bankruptcy will not help you if they have a judgment against you; court imposed judgments cannot be discharged in BK. You can never go to jail for owing money; we don't have 'debtors prisons' in this country.

You can work out a payment schedule with them. They will make lots of demands, but they want you to pay them instead of your rent or light bill. Don't fall for that.

They can (if they haven't already) sue you for the difference, and will win. Once they have a judgement they can garnish whatever your States law allows them to garnish - certainly bank acounts and savings, your paycheck in most States, your State tax return in some, etc etc etc

I had a car repoed. It just stays on your credit for like 7 yrs or something like that. They are just trying to BULLY you into paying. If you can and want to save your credit then do so. If you can't then don't. What are they gonna do? Come kill you or take your dog hostage??? Besides there are more important things to worry about. Like feeding your self and shelter.
