How long has he been your ex?

If it has been only a few days or weeks, no. Wait until you are over the breakup and you are sure he is isn't going to demand to have it back.

You might find that you will enjoy wearing it again. If not, after a year or so, sell it.

If it is an engagement ring; then it is a conditional gift and legally belongs to him. Otherwise you are free to do with it what you will.

I would not bring it to a pawn shop; they will give you next to nothing for it. Place it an e bay, you will get more money from it.

From a personal perspective, get rid of it. If it evokes memories than it is not good for you. Even if they are good memories, that keeps you locked in your old relationship and you cannot move on. Plus it is not fair to you next relationship if you are still mired in your old one.

So go forth, make money and move on with your life!

From a legal point of view, just be perfectly sure that this jewelery was actually a gift from him to you. If not, he could demand it back. Have it appraised and get a good deal for it though, pawn shops will cheat you.

Get the jewelry appraised, then decide if you want to sell it to the jeweler or pawn it. Usually you don't get as much value pawning something. Maybe you can try ebay.

Since you don't wanna see it anymore, sell it and give the money to charity if you don't wanna profit from it, or sell it and take a vacation, don't just throw it away.

sell it on ebay, or a private buyer. you wont get much at the pawn shop. most pay $25.00 for a $450.00 ring with diamonds in it.
