According to a long ago bible study I once did, 'man' reached the tree of knowledge in 'Eden,' way back when. It's said that is the reason we know good from evil.
As for having an out-of-body experience, I'm sure you know that many very ill, even dying people, who recover, then report out-of-body experiences.
Others do, too-- sometimes those put in sudden great risk from which survival seems unlikely will report such a moment, a moment which seems to me like clarity, with an overview of the proceedings, thus an 'out-of-body' experience.
Then there are those who have worked at and studied a way of life, usually reached through meditation, diet, and/or some other discipline, and also usually learned from a teacher. Some of these people have also reported out-of-body experiences.

I would say it takes a lot of dedication to even begin to know what such an experience really is.

Tree of knowledge: study epistemology, which is _why_ we know what we know. Also study rational thinking, critical thinking, logic, and logical fallacies. And don't forget the scientific method. The scientific method is not just about discovering new knowledge, but in being able to verify it as being, in fact, true. The tree of belief unfortunately looks a lot like the tree of knowledge, and the unthinking often get the two mixed up.

As for having an out of body experience, that has now been recreated in certain lab experiments.

We HAVE reached the tree of knowledge, otherwise we wouldn't be here asking all these questions. Only, we are way behind in the picking - the choiciest fruit are way too high up for us; we have to wait until we grow to hope to reach them.

As to OBE's, I do not know whether they can be induced or not. In all the accounts I have read, the state came on by itself. My only experience, though this does not fit in with 'normal' accounts since I was not clinically dead or near death (not that I know of, at least), is trying to wake up and couldn't as some one had gone into, 'invaded' I felt then, my body while I was asleep. Some time passed. I was bewildered. When I detemined forcefully - the determinaton came of itself, as a matter of couse - that '' that is MY body,I am coming in" - I woke up.

Those are 2 different and unrelated questions. The "tree" is something you do not have if you are as Adam was before he ate the apple. Since you already ate the apple, just study, but study with an understanding, and be certain to DIGRESS. When one subject leads you to another, GO FOR IT. Then go back to the first subject and pick up where you left off.
There are schools, mostly in California, that teach "out of body" techniques. Try a book.

the story is an allegory. there's no devil, and no conversing snake. The serpent develop into Eve's very own evil inclination. The primordial blunder develop into the invention of self. the 1st guy and lady in the backyard of Eden ate of the Tree of awareness and found out that they exist. Ever considering the fact that then, that self-information has been the muse of each disaster. each "I" and "me", each experience of being is a denial of the Oneness of the writer and the advent. it rather is a fact that there is something else, rather me, and that i'm self sufficient from all this. The purpose of mankind is to realize previous the state of Adam and Eve in the backyard --to a state the place any experience of ego is incomprehensible. a place suggested as Eden, that's previous the backyard, the region of necessary Being from the place all delights circulate... "And a river went out from Eden to water the backyard." And now you be attentive to why they ate of the fruit at the beginning.

How does one get to Carnegie Hall..."practice, practice, practice."

In order of ramping up, would suggest:

1. "The Great Divorce," C. S. Lewis;

2. "Hope for the World: Spiritual Galvanoplasty" and "Man's Subtle Bodies and Centres," O. M. Aivanhov;

3. "Entering the Circle" and "The Master of Lucid Dreams," Olga Kharitidi, M.D.;

4. "Watch Your Dreams" and "Men in White Apparel," Ann Ree Colton;

5. "The Masters and Their Retreats" and "Climb the Highest Mountain," Mark Prophet.

Some general points:

"Right desire;"

"Pure motive;"

"Ask regularly for protection, education, and guidance of Archangel Michael, Christ Jesus, God, particularly when one's body rests."

best regards,

j.
