Yes.....I have, and the thought f it was nearly heart wrenching, as so many years of full family spreads and the tidings of breaking bread with family and friends gives thought to deep introspection...for you on that day, never see them the same way again....it is indeed a special time. So yes, I have spent my holidays alone......introspective, reflective, and with great thoughts of many things....i always end up reading and writing, sometimes hit the computer......mainly i reflect that the meal before me is a blessing and represents so very much.......for the times I have remembered being hungry...on Thanksgiving, and yes, there were those times too.
I conclude saying, thank you for this question......
I look to share my fare this year...and spend the time ....reflectively.

Yes. In 1994, I blew out my knee and couldn't go to the family gathering, so I spent Thanksgiving by myself and in terrible pain.

Yes, one year, I decided to go it alone and have PB&J.
I was quite content, I didn't have to go to my in-laws that year. My hubby & the kids told them, Mom has the flu.
I didn't have the flu, maybe the "blue flu", I just didn't think I could deal with them that year & so I didn't go.
Yea! Me!
The following year, we went on vacation at Thanksgiving so none of us had to endure them.

Yes, once. It was terrible! I was sick, so I drank turkey broth for dinner and the dog got worms! I don't think one had anything to do with the other, but it still bit the big one!

Yes, at Basic Training. There were other people around, but without family it was the saddest, most depressing holiday ever.
