Why not? Apparently, we've already given up on teaching English.
Look, if you want to live in a society where hookers are on every corner and the populace is stoned 24/7, there are planes to Thailand leaving every day.

Your question brings up a very serious debate. I can honestly say that I have been there done that and I do know what I'm talking about. Your question makes me wonder if you are doing drugs yourself. Back in the day (which was only a couple of years ago) when I did drugs I thought the same thing. But after losing everything and becoming a single parent and then being a married woman again, I understand why we fight it. The only reason to do drugs or to sell yourself is purely out of ignorance. Now I agree that legalizing Marijuana would probably be a good thing but, drugs like cocaine and meth are a horrible epidemic and definatly ruin lives. So, should we care about people that want to ruin there lives. I guess that is up to individual choice. But those people that choose to do drugs (and prostitution as well) are ignorant people that have not found themselves yet. Those people may never find themselves. I am one of the lucky ones. I saved myself, nobody did it for me and I did it before I lost my children. I no longer live with the meth monster, I no longer smoke pot and I rarely ever drink . As for the prostitution, I was being sold by my ex-husband who demanded that I do it (yes he was abusive). He was from a wealthy family and was used to getting his way. NO I was not a corner hooker. I was high class. And it is a nightmare that I hope that I can someday forget.
Now I am a wonderful mom with 3 beautiful children and a wonderful husband (who I am completely dedicated to) that is currently deployed to Iraq. I am also in college studying Criminal Justice. The lessons I have learned are going to be used to help those that are living the life that I once lived and over come the heartbreak of that life style. Because the sad part of it all is, that when your in the middle of the fire you cannot see the flames. Now that I am no longer standing in the fire, I see the people burning within. I hope I was able to give you an insiders prospective and some understanding that so few people have. Most people that are against drugs and prostitution have never been there before, but I have. My statement is honest and true. I hope that you will be honest with yourself. life is short and drugs and prostitution are a waste of time.

Hmmm, I think you are been delusional and not living in reality (are you stoned?). To start, no crime will ever stop. Murders won't stop, robberies won't stop, burglaries won't stop, kid naping won't stop, domestic violence won't stop so why enforce those? Is ther a crime that has stopped?
Who gets hurt from prostitution and drugs? Are you freaking kidding? For drugs, lets take a drug that is currently LEGAL. Cigarettes are LEGAL and they tax the crap out of them (as per your suggestion). Do you think that cigarettes have never hurt anyone? Do you know how much they cost in health related problems. I give you a hint, MORE THAN THEY ARE GETTING TAXED. Also, I imagine that no will EVER think of driving under the influence of driving enhancement drugs like cocaine or marijuana? Because we all know that once you are stone you have great character and you make excellent choices. That is why it is highly recommended for surgeons, race car drivers, astronauts, rescue workers, rich moguls puff a few and snort some before crucial moments.
Are all prostitutes doing so because they like to screw and getting pay for it? Have you heard of a PIMP? Look it up. Have you heard of child prostitution? Sex slaves? Also, do you know there are STDs out there. How much more our health care system will be impacted if prostitution was legal?
We know that everyone will wear condoms and in any case the treatment for STDs is cheap and STDs can be cure so fast that is would be a negligible amount.
Oh and murders, robberies, burglaries, kid napings, domestic abuse have NEVER had anything to do with either drigs or prostitution. Well maybe on a few very very rare occasions, right?
BTW, I am not a redneck or white for that matter.

Two questions - two answers:
We are attempting to enforce prostitution laws because in general (and I mean no offense by this) this country was founded by a Puritans and has remained more religious, in general, than many other countries. Part of this is our youth as a country (only a few hundred years old!) In general our government has acknowledged the fact that a significant number of our population believes in a faith that frowns upon prostitution, and our government, being "by the people and for the people" takes this into heavy consideration. In my opinion prostitution should be legalized and regulated, with mandatory exams, STD testing, protection, etc.
Drugs get a bit more complicated, as technically SOME drugs are legal in the U.S. - alcohol and tobacco. However, even the use of tobacco is becoming less socially acceptable in a public forum because of the negative side effects. I do believe in the legalization of marijuana, if we continue to allow tobacco to be sold (as the tobacco is more harmful to our health and the health of those around us, as it is currently manufactured, than marijuana), or both should be outlawed.
Other drugs, however, have been proven to be significantly more harmful to people, not only those who take it but those who must suffer those who have taken it. Those, because of their drastically more harmful nature, especially to the people who are impacted indirectly from them, should definitely be regulated. Domestic violence and rape can often be the result of the effects of these types of drugs, and often proving those cases becomes more complicated because of the effect of the drugs as well!

I love how people bring up "bad drugs" and "robbing a 7/11" here, because I had a friend once who died after drinking a bad batch of Budweiser... oh wait, beer is legal, and therefore produced legally by companies with QUALITY CONTROL, not some guy in a lab in the mountains somewhere. Of course, there was a time when people DID die/go blind due to bad batches of alcohol -- it was called PROHIBITION. And how come you never hear about anyone robbing a 7/11 for cigarette money even though tobacco is one of the most addictive substances known to man? Could it be that even a broke drug addict can scrounge up enough money to buy a pack of smokes? Try finding $100 under your couch cushions.
One other thing for the people worried about kids -- middle school kids have an easier time obtaining pot than alcohol. Why? Street dealers don't card.

First, I semi agree with you on prostitution. If it were legal, taxed, and controlled it would solve a lot of problems. One is the rid of pimps. Two is the requirement for STD checks. Three is only people who want to be in the business, would be. They would need to get a license. Four, it would be regulated.
Second, I disagree with you on drugs. They are illegal for good reason. The situation should determine the punishment. If you are a "social" user and are convicted, you should be made to wear a pink jumpsuit with drug user stenciled on your back every weekend for six months, while you clean parks and streets. If you are a small time drug dealer you should get 2 years prison without parole. If you are a supplier, they should bury you under the prison.
EDIT: After reading all the other posts, I reread your question. I think you should get 30 days for grammar and misspelling.

i do not recognize. Are there any case study contained in the Netherlands the position both are legal. Or in England the position they medicalized it once. Prostitution threatens multiple women individuals. it ought to have a profound change on the mating procedure. a guy is now given a decision. He can play through some ladies regulations and do the relationship element and want to get some sex or he can flow downtown and purchase some sex. If a guy can get sex on call for and p.c.. his important different and get it for a sensible volume of money, ought to which have a profound impact on who receives married or shacks up. ought to it go away multiple women individuals "dateless" lots of the three hundred and sixty 5 days. some human beings worry doing drugs because they worry penitentiary. Take that threat away and ought to in accordance to capita drug use boost. i ought to say it absolutely ought to, how a lot is hard to say. Is drug use undesirable? I keep in mind someone i recognize from England who said the time of day and accuracy of mail delivery changed into in keeping with in case your address changed into before or AFTER the Pub. He changed into really straightforward at the same time as he said that. Now, the way you gonna experience at the same time as the Stewardess brings some bottle of Jack to the pilots up the front flying the airplane! I propose, even 2 pictures of Jack does no longer disqualify you from utilising a automobile in maximum states. you're below .08 noticeably once you've a meal.

Which drugs should be legal? Just weed, or all of them? The country has a big enough problem with substance abuse now, legalizing drugs would make the issue worse. Who will pay for all of the treatment, taxpayers? The United States was founded on moral principles, legalize prostitution and drugs will put us all sliding down a slippery slope.

It kills people. Why try and stop murders if you dont attempt to stop the source of most of them - drugs. You can't be that mis-informed?
Its true that it will never, ever, be stopped, but a million bucks of crack off the street is a million bucks of crack that cant get near my son, or others.
Prostitution on the other hand, should be legal, since it is anyway in a lot of places. It doesnt hurt anyone to pay for sex, or to be paid to receive it. If they wanna do that, then by all means do it.

Hey Hippie go ask the crack addicts kids who is hurt by all of these (so called) crimes. Then ask the innocent parties to useless drive byes (so called) crimes. Try to talk to the parents of the worthless heroin addicts...(so called) crimes. Just because you like to toke up on your weed, don't think someone isn't getting hurt. See what the people think that caught a VD from their significant other. Do you think they were hurt? You are welome to your opinion, but please make a better argument, because it was too easy making you look the fool. Thanks for the two points.
