Well i thought about it, why do we do it?

You need to be a christian to celebrate Christmas, but other people don't believe in god and they do celebrate it.

What is the meaning of Christmas?

Christmas is Jesus' birthday. There are people out there trying to take it away, but they'll never do it.

Christmas always has and always will be the day Christ was born. That is the reason for the season. NOBODY can EVER get rid of Christmas. It's here to stay. Christ is here to stay.

There is a wonderful new album out by a woman who is not afraid to talk about the REAL meaning of Christmas. It's called Christmas in the Ancient Church, and it's choral music. All the parts are sung by one woman. Soprano, alto, tenor and bass. She does Christmas readings from the Bible also. I suppose they'll try to ban these CD's too, but I'm glad SOMEBODY is putting out CDs that are for CHRISTMAS, not just some pagan ritual or rock music. It's an awesome CD. You have to be in a quiet place and in a serious mood to get the most from it. It's the best Christmas CD I've heard in years. Listen to it: http://www.nancybarrow.com.

Christmas is a holiday when you can just forget about everything else and relax. You get together with your family and share memories and presents. Some people just celebrate Christmas just because of the commercialized version of the Mall Santa Clause or the whole going shopping for Christmas presents in chaotic super stores.

I think that Christmas should be a time of the year to slow down and appreciate what you have and to help people.

I celebrate Christmas though because my mother and grandmother brought me up celbrating christmas. The best thing I like about celbrating Christmas has never actually been the recieving the presents but the spirit of it everyone decorating their houses the smell of fresh baked goods the christmas tree and all the joy it has and the songs and the beautiful melodies of them the concerts at school the crafts that are made and the fact everyone can be happy one day out of the winter even though it is freezeing cold!

Its not part of my religion, and I can't say I really celebrate it..especially lately when its become so commercialized. Each year more emphasis on gift giving overshadows what the true meaning is supposed to be. Next year I'm expecting to truly find a "Christmas in July" where there are christmas trees, decorations and so on as early as July.
My problem in the last few years is how there is SO much (for lack of better word) Build-up, so much to do before christmas, so much worry, so much stressing over SHOPPING and then...BAM! The day has come..and it's all over. It feels like a HUGE letdown and that makes christmas suck even more.

Halloween isn't the Devils day. initially it changed into talked about as Samhain, the Celtic New 3 hundred and sixty 5 days. oftentimes talked about as The Day of the lifeless it changed into believed that this international and the subsequent were very close on that day and folk ought to have a good time their ancestors and go away nutrition for wandering spirits on the roadside. It turned right into a time of magic and this has filtered down into present day lifestyle as ghosts, witches and so on. Being a Pagan pageant it had no longer something in any respect to do with the devil, because it extremely is a Christian element. The call of Halloween is derived from All Hallows Eve which precedes All Saints day - a Christian pageant. Christmas too is initially Pagan - talked about as yuletide. The Romans celebrated their own version in the present day - Saturnalia. So neither pageant is Christian in any respect. in case you don't like Samhain then it really is tremendous, it is your decision. i like it notwithstanding. through ways, Easter turned right into a Pagan pageant too and ought to Day changed into Beltane, so that you would favor to circumvent those besides.

I don't have a religion... I celebrate Christmas because it is a chance to get together with family. And eat ham and have a nice sit down dinner and catch-up and warm our footsies up next to the fireplace. Oh...and presents. heehee. But family is better. Present are just a plus. Christmas would be just as fun if there were no presents.

For some it's not about the religious aspect, it's all about "gift giving!" Someone explained it to me once. They aren't celebrating God they are celebrating Santa! Quite frankly I will keep the religious aspect in my Christmas!

It's Jesus' Birthday and yes to many people celbrate for the wrong reasons... most do it for the gifts..... It should be about your faith and trust in the lord and wanting to celebrate the day he was born.. but people are selfish.

For me it's all about the religious celebration. All the family stuff and the gifts and the nice dinner and stuff are part of it.
