I was going to mentioni the blackness thoughts before I read the details. That is definitely true. The blackness is as close as one can get to "nothingness" because when we think of nothing we think of no objects and no light. What do we get when there is no light? Black.

It's not impossible to comprehend if you just don't think about it.
Seriously. Our universe is made up of space-time exploding from the Big Bang. Space-time is like a balloon expanding forever, and nothing can exist at any distance outside of it because distance implies the existance of space. The "nothingness" outside of our universe doesn't really exist, since it doesn't even contain time or space. There is no point in even trying to comprehend something that doesn't exist.

Think of it this way. When you fall asleep and then wake up the next morning, and time just seemed to speed up. You know time passed but the time between you closing your eyes and opening them is almost instantaneous to you. No I am not including dreams in this example. But you get the feeling that 8 hours just passed by as if it was just seconds. That is what it was like before life began. A long time of nothingness that can't be comprehended because it is impossible to conciously experience the passage of time when you are asleep.

Such matters like this have perplexed me since I was a child. To me it's impossible to even try to comprehend such things like where does the universe end or the reality of the universe being timeless. The only thing that helps me even come close to grasping such things is God,He is the I AM,he's always been and always will be.Man will never fit God and his creation into some box. This kinda makes me think of mathematics which is mans attempt to find Gods lowest common denominator,it's just not going to happen but the wonder of it all is a beautiful thing.

I don't know if anybody can actually comprehend it and hold the thought. I have been able to get what you might call a mental whiff of it. It lasts only for a second and is quite a disturbing sensation. I realize this concept requires the absence of both space and time. Hard to do, but when I get close to it, I don't like where I'm going.

No. Actually it is easy to experience. When swimming,
just (with ear plugs in your ears) lay back with your eyes
closed under the water for a minute. You are of course
alive, which isn't nothingness, but you can't feel, hear, see,
smell or touch. You are completely engulfed with a void.
That void is nothingness!

The best example of nothingness, is..............being dead with no soul. Otherwise, nothingness, is just simply the next word to a moment in time with no reactive or proactive response......................silence.It is not possible. Have you ever seen water that is totally still? With no reaction, or wave from the littliest dragonfly that wisps by to catch his next resting place? Nothingness.............is what is apparant when people.......................just exist. And dont ask questions and seek answers.

Owww, it hurts my head to think about that.
I'll save my brain cells for something I can comprehend.
Great question by the way.
