Im mean reading is so boring, its just so much more convient to switch on the TV or watch a movie. Reading just gives you a headache and a stiff back. Why do people read when they can watch the TV or on the internet, like just watch movies or something, better than reading. I mean just because they read doesn't mean they are smarter or anything. Who here agrees with me!

Reading is actually very enjoyable and relaxing because it opens you up to new perspectives and views on life. Its very enlightening to read, because its like the author speaking to you. It expands and broadens you view. Reading takes your imagination to places you could never go to. Unlike TV you really get involved with the charcater, going thru wat he goes thru and feeling what the character feels. I feel sorry for u because your missing a lot without reading. AND I LOVE READING.

I would much rather read when I can. You don't have the tv or computer screen glare in your eyes for hours at a time, you don't have the noise going on, the pictures/screen isn't moving all the time. For me, reading is relaxing. I can really get into a book and become a character in a book. I take it you haven't found anything that really sparks your interest enough to read it. If you did, you would know what I mean. Also, when reading, you need to sit where you are the most comfortable (chair, couch, bed, whatever). Change positions if you need to. And yes, I do believe that those who read ARE smarter than those who don't. You can learn a heck of a lot more by reading than you can by the tv (unless it is an educational show). Oh, and by the way, you are 'reading' when you are on the Internet because you are 'reading' what others have written.

I think people who read learns spelling, about a lot of different place, how to cope with or do anything and you can read anywhere, any time and just put a bookmark to carry on when you want to - and you choose what you prefer not accept what there is - maybe not smarter but certainly not dumb either

Well as logical as turning on the TV and rotting your brain and staying on the computer for a large majority is, reading is a better way to educate peope. I don't know about you b ut most people don't study from watching TV.

wow, I don't agree
You must be really stupid...no offence
Reading is fun when you get a good book, and you can get into it way more then in t.v.
to me it almost feels like I'm actually becoming the person.
It's exciting and interesting.
and if you get a headache and stiff back from it, then get a book with large print and a better place to read :]

Woah woaaaaahh! I love to read, you meaniehead. =( lol, anywaaaays.. It's fun cause you can imagine and just see in your head what is going on. And just like that other answerer said, for once you feel like you're in your own world. Sometimes I wish I could just be a character in a book.... I mean, anything can happen in a story, all you have to do is write it.

i do not agree with you . you can get a seance of being in the book that you can not get on TV. a book is much more relaxing than TV. You have control over the book where you do not have any over the TV.

Because it is conducive for a growing IQ. And also by reading, you gain the point of view of the author, rather than having the points of view of the producer and the writers intervene.

Reading sparks the imagination and it DOES make you smarter in a sense. It helps improve your vocabulary and it also helps you become a better speller.
