Unfortunately, WWIII will be global suicide, therefore in answer to your question, as long as there's rational superpowers who believe in MAD, there will be no WW3. By definition, the next world war wil be nuclear, how could it not. In a nuclear war there will be no winner. In a nuclear world, the only true enemy is war itself.
The next World War will involve a nuclear exchange, how could it not if both sides believe no price for victory will be too high. In the first 30 minutes, nearly a billion people will have been vaporised, mostly in the US, Russia, Europe, China and Japan. Another 1.5 billion will die shortly thereafter from radiation poisoning. The northern hemisphere will be plunged into prolonged agony and barbarity.
Eventually the nuclear winter will spread to the southern hemisphere and all plant life will die. You ask what country would be victorious, you are asking when will we commit global suicide. My answer is it won't happen soon because the larger superpowers are more rational than the rump states in the middle east.
While we hear talk of a nuclear-Iran or a confrontation with NorKor, little is said about the 2 bulls in the glass shop. The arsenals of Russia and the US are enough to destroy a million Hiroshimas. But there are fewer than 3000 cities on the Earth with populations of 100,000 or more. You cannot find anything like a million Hiroshimas to obliterate. Prime military and industrial targets that are far from cities are comparatively rare. Our biggest threat is from an accidental launch by the Russians.
At the point of global suicide, it doesn't matter who is on what side.... In a nuclear age like i said before, the only true enemy is war itself.

Personally I rather doubt it. Not like before where most of world was involved in the same fight. I can see most of the world being at war, but it will be many smaller wars. Interconnected to some degree, but not one huge conflict.
I just don't think the world situation is right for a global conflict. Right now there is lots of tension, but it is old grudges and local issues.

Maybe. I was in Desert Storm and Shield. Muslims arent going to stop hating non muslims. many morons say the whole Iraq war is Bush's fault, but think about this-they been attacking us even before 2001. Google the Philipines and you will find that they have same problems. Google japan, and China-they been fighting Muslims for YEARS.
We keep haveing politicians who want to look the other way, and thats how 09-11 happened. We need to close our borders, and buckle down for a while.

There is a good chance with the events going in Pakistan that it will become more or a Islamic nation and if that happens old hatreds will erupt between them and India.
When that happens there is a good chance nuclear weaponry will be used and at that point other countries will have to step in and take a side.
It really depends on the next couple of months and how the events over there unfold.

The media is not calling what's going on right now a world war.
but it is. We are in world war 3 but the media is not saying it. the news wont acknolwedge it. and it's not the same as any other war ever fought, but make no mistake, this is world war 3. and you will begin to see more countries drawn into it as we go along. It willl get bad.

It looks quite likely though I really hope not.
People should know that in a war there are two sides and just because you are born in a certain part of the world doesn't mean that you are on the right or wrong side.

hmm well lets think about it for a minute,
there is North Korea that has reciently tested nuclear weapons. the leader Kim Jong Ill has said he intends to use them against the U.S., then there is Iran that like last week claimed they developed nuclear weapons, and they say they intend to use them on the U.S as well. and we also have China who has been nuclear for a while and they are allies with North Korea.
So yes, odds are that we will be entering a world war sometime within the next 10 years or so.

In my opinion, I'd have to say(at the risk of being a smart a**) .......
What do you think the war in Iraq is? It's not classified as such but think about it's components. We've been at it for a long time, some troops have been over multiple times, and more than one country is invovled.
That's my opinion. Thumbs down are right below for ya.....

probably not in our lifetime but eventually like all those who have ruled this world they have all been hit by extinction but they had millions of years we havent even had half a million so we need not to worry about war in our backyards not unless the germans and iranians have some dirty little tricks up there sleeves. what we need to watchout for is the misconceptions of what war really is, where it will start and what sparks the worlds superpowers for example america does not like terrorist so they bomb afhganistan and iraq. its all a powerplay with countries but the biggest power is the united nations and yet they still do nothing which i think is all a strategey. i think they know that stopping one war creates two more.

Difficult to imagine another 60 years without a nuclear exchange.
At least it will all be over quickly, unless the Israelis start flinging their biological "ethno" weapons around with their intercontinentals fired from their new nuclear submarines.
