Perhaps it is that so many of us have become conceited in our own wisdom - whether it be academic or street. Our basic nature is to be self-centered, and this leads to conflict with the others we share the world with. It is essential that each person conquers himself or herself.

Humanity HAS become very stupid.. the reason being, is because we put our faith in humanly and worldly things.
If we learn to listen to our inner voice, or spirit.. we would completely know the way to go.
However, I think most people would say that they don't enjoy life because we have to endure it.. enduring it is enduring what Man has passed through the ages...
Our society creates and limits our boundaries to what our own potential is.
Have you ever had someone tell you that "you can't do something" because "they" thought that it wasn't right, but it made COMPLETE sense to you...
You knew it was right because something inside you told you to make a good decision. Same things with making the wrong decisions But the wrong decisions, make us STRONGER, IF we can endure them.
Humanity only has a means to show control.. or 'power" over others.. a means to make another inferior...
If we truly accepted who, and what we can do (to effect the world) then humanity wouldn't be about governing and power.. which in turn creates a heirarchy of inferiority and NOT power.
Believing within yourself can you truly begin to change what humanity has become.... look at the Greats that have affected and change the world... like Jesus, George Washington, Ceasar's, etc...
Our history has progressed because of these types of men that have stood out from the crowd to help humanity (whether or not you choose to believe they did, they ARE apart of history that has effected the world in some way)

Humans are smart enough to know that they're smarter than the other animals, but still not quite bright enough to figure out the difference between being _relatively_ smart and _absolutely_ smart. We as a species still depend heavily on institutions like religion and government, and will fiercely defend them even though they are ultimately at the root of quite a number of the world's ills. I think humanity IS growing smarter over time, but it is a very slow process. I sometimes wish I could just fast-forward a few millennia into the future to a time when our species has become a bit more mature.

I like to consider 'stupidity' in this way, esp at higher levels---when people in authority or in professional positions keep making the same life-and-death mistakes, repeatedly even with the knowledge of history. There is a whole body of clever philosophy and wise learning that professionals and politicians can take advantage of, yet they don't. And tragedies involving thousands, even millions of precious lives, repeat themselves in armed conflicts.
Stupidity among youngsters is excusable because they dont have the advantage of experience or knowledge. But people in authority or power must never make decisions based on pride or material gain alone. We have enough of two devastating world wars, followed by a series of smaller ones and yet it seems no lessons have been learnt. And now we may be on the brink of another war that may involve invasion or the use of nuclear weapons. Countries will always protect their sovereignty with their lives.
I suppose mankind will never change, and one of the constants in the universe will be 'stupidity'. It shall remain as long as human kind is around.

I wouldn't necessarily say stupid. Most of us have the ability to learn, but I think laziness or apathy is what most people suffer from. Nobody wants to think for themselves anymore or ask questions. They all want to stay in their own little world where they are comfortable with being told what to believe, etc.
I do, however, feel your pain....

people just don't care. they are all out for selfish reasons. everything humans do is to better their own lives. they don't care about other people or the world they live in. i mean think about it... do you always recycle glass, paper, cardboard, plastic? why do people get married? financial support, because the person makes them happy, physical gratification... humans are by nature selfish.
