Your dad wants you to be safe and to protect yourself if you become sexually active. There are parents that give their kids condoms and parents that don't so it's normal for some and not normal for others. Be thankful that your dad is the kind of dad that you can go to if you have questions.

This seems like a joke. It really does sound like something a 13-year old would say. However, I will give you the benefit of the doubt.

The talk is normal around that age. The condom is not. For one thing, you're not legally supposed to do that until 16. Whilst this is not always followed, 13 is pushing it. But giving you a condom at that age is plain creepy; actually your dad giving you a condom at all is a bit strange.

Best advice I can give you is this: use it in the right situation, but don't get into that situation.

I know better be safe than sorry, but for the sake of all girls you meet, DO NOT GET IN A SITUATION NEEDING A CONDOM. Condoms are good to use, but can break, especially when kept in a wallet for a long period of time which weakens it. As a 13 year old girl, I would hope that you never need to use it, because of what sex can do to girls, but if you do make the choice of pre-marital sex, use the condom.

I think it is very responsible of him. An hour or so ago everyone was saying that 12-13 year kids get pregnant because their parents don't take responsibility now people are saying it's too young...???
Just be carefull keeping it in your wallet. When the time comes for you to use it, if it has been in there for too long (and let's hope it's been there for a while) it will be much less effective. They get old, get left in the heat when they're in your wallet and they can therefore break very easily

Well, being only 13 and having your dad giving you a condom is defidentally NOT normal. Boys your age should not be thinking about that. I'd say the average age for having sex is between 16-18, although I strongly advise you to wait til your married. But everyone knows that not eveyone will follow that rule, which results in a lot of bad things. So my advise to you is to put that away and to not worry about that sort of stuff for a couple more years ok? Your still very young for that sort of stuff. Live you life before you decide to mess around and mess up you and your partners life.

Sorry, that's kind of weird...like he wants you to have sex or something? By the way, your wallet is the worst place to put a condom because it can get worn down with the pressure of the wallet and being in your pants. It would probably break during intercourse. Give your dad the condom back and tell him you aren't planning on having sex before you're married. As enjoyable as it may seem, I don't think it's worth it to take certain risks.

im a girl and im 13.
so i bet its kinda weird me giving you this advise..haha

ok so like ur dad is prb just looking out for you.
i mean i think its pretty normal. alot of my guy friends recently got the talk..and the whole condom thing... i think its just kinda a way for your dad to tell you to stay safe if you ever get to that point in a relationship. hes not saying go out there and have sex... hes just saying if you ever do..to use protection, because u wont wanna be a dad at 13 and get some girl knocked up.

i think its like tottaly normal. but its also nothing you blab off to your freinds about. just because they may have not got the "full" talk like you just did.

keep your pants up!-
skyler

A bit young, but I suppose he wants you to see how it works and all.

After all it's best if guys know how to use it for themselves before they try and put it on and stick it in a girl.

Maybe 13 is young but I think it's ok. BTW don't use that condom. Keeping them in wallets is bad as the body head, and possibly friction, can cause small holes to appear.

Your Dad sounds very old fashioned.

If you were a daughter I doubt that
he'd be advocating birth control or
encouraging you to have sex. Therefore,
he sounds quite sexist to me.

So, understand that adults are not
perfect. Just because you have a condom
it doesn't mean you have to use it.

A much more admirable man is one who
has some strong values about saving
himself for a serious love relationship and
someone who can control himself.

However, if you decide that you are not
up to that ideal, then make sure you at
least use a condom. It can't protect you
from all diseases nor is it 100% effective
against pregnancy but it's much better
than no protection.

Your father had very sincere and real good intentions giving you the condom after having THE TALK. You're too young to face life as a father---and being one at this stage of your life is a tragedy your father would rather you avoid. Not to mention the scary array of STD's and AIDS out there.....your dad wants you to live life free of that concern as well.

I'm sure it is with his deepest hopes you use wise common sense when it comes to matters about sexual intimacy and make it a disciplined lifestyle to ALWAYS protect yourself from parenthood or AIDS patient.
