Your name is of Basque origin. The Basques are an ancient group of indigenous people who inhabit parts of north-central Spain and southwestern France. As you know, Puerto Rico was colonized by the Spanish five hundred years ago, and there are many people with the name Zuazaga who live there.

I'm not too familiar with your last name but it sounds like one of those Basque surnames I know that end with "ga" like Galarraga, Gallaga, Larranaga, Lizarraga, Luzuriaga, Yznaga, Zaldariaga, Zuluaga and Zuniga. Why don't you try to search for it under Basque surnames or find it's meaning under Euskara which is the name of their language.

Possibly derived, in a series of evolution through generations and through centuries, from the word "Suvaha", which has a connotation of 'dedication of self', in languages deriving from Praakrut (ancient Sanskrut), and, possibly, Chinese ("Zua", being a root) -- a deduction is that it is a spiritual term, a fine surname!

why does there have to be a meaning? maybe the spelling was changed over the years, like most last names.
