They will be the number 1 team in the rankings.
They WILL be tested. There's no way a weak team would get past Mizzou and Oklahoma.
Apparently, 4 people are upset. Those people are f*cking crybabies. GET OVER IT.

Why should Kansas?
First of all, they have played absolutely nobody.
Only three teams they have faced have winning records. The most wins one team has is 6. The best they have faced as far as record wise, is Central Michigan. OSU has faced seven teams with winning records. Two top 25 teams. And just now they have fallen to a very tough Illinois team.
Second of all, Kansas hasn't been in the situation for decades. South Florida had shown signs of being a force in the past couple years. BC has steadily gained ground in becoming a powerhouse. South Florida did play people and so did BC. Now why would someone with a strong history of losing, has not played anybody, squeaked by Texas A&M and Colorado, and somehow is undefeated? We really have nothing in the past to say, this team is for real. OSU went undefeated throughout last regular season, they even posted up another great season the year before, but now just because Kansas is having a dream season they should be #1?
They have the benefit of playing in the Big 12 (what many consider the weakest BCS conference), will not be tested until the last game of the season. By the time the whole season is over, they may have played against one single team with a winning record. Yeah, they definately should be #1. Think a little bit about things.
Sorry dude, but anyone with a brain only sees one L for LSU. They win and that is all there is too it. Doesn't matter how or when, but as long as they can consistently knock off ranked oppenents, while Kansas knocks off 3-8 opponents, then LSU deserves the nod over Kansas.
To Kevin l:
Sorry LA Tech kinda slipped by after seeing Virginia Tech, South Carolina, Florida, Auburn, and Alabama. After playing six ranked opponents, I think they deserve a fluff.

yes the smaller conferences dont get respect they should. BUT hell go schedule a real game and then thered be some. you cant play teams like fresno state and boise state and expect to be #1 in the nation. YET i still say give Hawaii a chance in a big bowl, theve put up impressive numbers the past 2 seasons now. Put them against a big dog, you never know. Itd be interesting at least either way to see The BSC sucks, but it is based on schedule strength, points for/against, coaches polls, etc. if you dont nationally expose yourself then you wont get that respect from coaches which is over 25% of the BCS ranking. The whole system is jacked up. If youre ranked preseason youre pretty much sitting pretty. If #1 preseason loses the first game to any bad team they drop maybe to the teens in spots, say #18. But a team ranked say #22 preseason drops out even if they lose the first game to a ranked team by 1 point, and has to beat another ranked team to "prove themselves" and get back in the rankings. if you get what im saying the whole system is stupid. IMO Kansas is good enough to be #1, for now. what does it hurt putting them #1 for the time being. they still have more games left and could change. They still have #7 missouri left so theyll be tested. But they've been impressive and deserve #1 based on wins/losses solely. that should be the first factor, THEN also include the others like schedule strength and points behind that. Give the team whos run the table the #1 sport over someone with 1 loss. They worked hard for those wins. To above: the problem with that argument is you have teams like Michigan who can still go to a BCS bowl while losing to Appilachian State a Div I-AA team. I dont think theyre anymore deserving of a BCS bowl bid than and unbeaten WAC team no matter who they played. who did Michigan beat that theyre still so respected? 1-9 Minnesota? Eastern Michigan? 1-9 Notre Dame? Only decent ranked team they beat was Penn state, yet they wete #15 going into this week? They arent BCS bowl material either then by any means

They should be #1, not because they have earned it by beating quality teams but for the same reason that OSU was ranked #1. They are the only team (Hawaii doesn't count) playing in the larger conferences that is still undefeated.
However when the polls come out LSU will be first, Oregon second and either Kansas or Oklahoma third.
Don't fret though Kansas fans, if they go undefeated and beat Oklahoma in the big 12 championship they will go to the National Title game. So, it doesn't really matter who is ranked where at the moment.

That pesky LSU Tiger fan is correct. The only poll that matters is the last one..... unless.
Unless you run into the problem of having three teams with the same record... in which case it would appear who ever started the pre-season with a better rank would have an easier time keeping their spot rather than having to do something amazing to jump a spot.
Its all jacked up and we know it is.... But lets be honest. Without this speculation we would all be looking at porn right now. If we really had a playoff system there wouldn't be a damn thing to talk about. Hell I like the banter.

I think it is interesting as people dog Kansas because of their schedule that they fail to mention LSU playing La Tech (oohhh, scary opponent!!!) and losing to traditional powerhouse Kentucky (who after winning early in the season has totally tanked lately). Is Kansas the best team in the country? Probably not. But rankings, as you know, have never been about who is good. It is about who (with a traditional program and/or from a "power" conference) is winning. So (given those "rules") a 10-0 team from the Big 12 should be #1. But they won't be.

Strength of schedule as of last week: Oregon 3rd, LSU 13th, Kansas 84th. When Kansas beats a team with a pulse, let us know. Until then, have them book the Cotton Bowl, which is where they'll end up after Missouri takes care of them.
BTW, the only team in the BCS top 12 with a worse SOS than Kansas was West Virginia at 88th. You criticize OSU, yet Ohio State's SOS was 57th, meaning the no ones they beat were better than the no ones Kansas beat.
Let's face it. If Kansas played Oregon's or LSU's schedule, right now they would be entertaining representatives from the Independence Bowl.

look at the strength of schedule...nobodies strength of schedule comes close to Oregon's...which was 3rd hardest schedule in the nation as of last week...no other top 10 team has a top 10 strength of schedule...don't forget that the whole Oregon roll began with a thorough whipping of Michigan, which could have easily been 53-7, instead of 39-7...Hart didn't even play in Michigan's loss today.....
anyways, i am already getting tired of hearing the Kansas whining...they do not have that hard of a schedule...although it is harder than Ohio States...
oh by the way...Oregon has had some major injuries, including Jeremiah Johnson (rb), which would be like the Dallas Cowboys losing Marion Barber, and wr Colvin, but the Ducks have kept rolling, and would run all over KU....Oregon has been getting the shaft to the largest degree...
all in all if Kansas deserves it , then maybe Hawaii does too....and Boise State shoulda been in the National Championship game last year if thats the case

football polls are popularity contests....voters rank teams and the get points accordingly, its completely subjective, ohio state didn't jump over everybody, they didn't lose, everyone else lost, same with BC and South Florida, the game isn't rigged, blame the voters
still they should have a playoff system because parity is starting to show up in college football

That's the fate of why the media is fast to make up stories to make their dead-line. And why an un-ranked (not in top 25) team like Illinois has just beat them ,today-11/12/07-SAT. if you saw the game ending - they almost broke down on their knees and cried. Too bad when your bubble gets popped. It all comes out in the wash - don't believe everything you read.

They're not going to be #1. Sorry, but beating Central Michigan, Southeast Louisiana, Toledo, Florida International, Kansas State, Baylor, Colorado, Texas A&M, Nebraska, and Oklahoma State does not compare to the schedules that both LSU and especially Oregon have played.
KU should be #3.
