Yes! I 've used them to twist the top off of "Twist Top Bottles" that refused to "Twist OFF! And I have also used them to Push and pull a needle through leather and when the knob on the stove breaks, I use the pliers to turn the gas burner on and off. I hope that this answers your question on some of the uses of pliers besides their intended use.

Yep. When I used to wear skintight and can't-breathe but-they-look-awesome jeans, I would use pliers to get a grip on the zipper to zip them up.
