The very first thing that needs to be done is to make birth control widely available. Many of the infant deaths are children of very low income mothers who only became pregnant because they didn't have access to reliable birth control.
I agree with you that more money should be spent at home to keep our children healthy. There are so many homeless children in the US, children who need a place to live, food to eat and medical care. It angers me when I see advertisements on TV asking for money to help needy children in foreign countries. If anyone in America wants to spend their money to help children , that money should go to help OUR children right here.

enable's see some back up on that. you get carry of none. The existence expectancy is the only factor which you have arise with that has a statistical backround. And that replaced into heavily improper. once you get rid of murders and vehicle injuries we pass way up the line. And in case you look at say prostate maximum cancers the numbers are superb. interior the US you have an 80 two% risk of surviving. In Canada and England you have a fifty 4% risk as a results of long waiting strains . wealthy Britons and Canadians come to the US for well being care. Ever right here of a wealthy American going to Sri Lanka for well being care??? in this united states all public hospitals are mandated to handle anybody inspite of ability to pay. So your argument is the two incorrect and moot

America has no public health care, if this was fixed up you could keep the deaths allot lower.
what's wrong with the Bill Gates Foundation helping the more needy, millions of people die from easily curable diseases so is there life really worth so much less then an American??

sbyldy is actually right about looking at what the numbers reflect. In a lot of countries, those premies wouldn't even survive birth, and wouldn't be counted in their mortality rates. We have the best healthcare system in the world, in some cases save babies born so early they are only given a 5% chance to live...they wouldn't have that chance somewhere else.

Notice that we have more infant beds. I think that putting a newborn in a different room with a bunch of other babies is less than intelligent. I also think the proximity to the mother is comforting to an infant. In america we are so scientific we have lost basic human-ness

I'm guessing that our infant death rate could be reflecting the fact that women have children at later ages than they used to and many cannot afford prenatal care.
As for the Gates Foundation, they can spend their money any way they see fit. They didn't have to donate to charity at all and could have used it for mansions, cars and other personal items. If they choose to spend it to benefit other parts of the world, good for them.

One way is just to shift numbers! We are trying to save babies that are too premature, and they are counted in the rates. They need to be in a seperate category. By the way, the birth rate for teen mothers have been dropping for quite awhile now. The key to healthy newborns is better healthcare for expectant moms.

America's infant mortality rate is one of the lowest in the world. Babies die in this country because of their mothers, not because of health care. Prenatal vitamins, WIC vouchers, and screenings are available to each and every pregnant woman in the US. at no cost to them. The fact that they don't avail themselves of these services is what inflates our infant mortality rates. That can never be eradicated by gov't or private charities.

One, STOP MAKING BABIES!
Yeah, I know it sounds cruel, but too many kids are having kids, and that is just down right IRRESPONSIBLY.
First, kids cant support infants, it leads to more poverty.
Second, kids can't raise kids, they don't have the life experience to pass on.
Third, Kids that get pregnant usually do so because of drugs and alcohol, this is frequently passed on as health problems to infants, low birth weights, premature births and birth defects.
It all comes down to this "protect the children" crap that shields them from evil. Don't hold back information from your kids, EDUCATE them! Don't expect the school to do it for you. Girls need to know how NOT to get pregnant before boys figure out how to make it happen!
