I have used clothes pins to close the chips bags. They are very useful when you don't have anything to seal the bag of chips that you have opened.

when I thaw frozen things in hot water in a kettle I clip the top of the bag to the side of the kettle with a clothes pin

They're handy in the kitchen - use em to close a potato chip bag, clip them around the bread bag to keep fresh etc.

I do know some people who used to paint them as little dolls and draw faces on their heads and glue on a hairdo.
