YES. I am selfish at times. At birth, we don't know how to walk, talk, feed ourselves. So we rely on our mothers to do those things for us. This is why we focus more on our selves, our wants and our needs when we were babies for survival and we scream to get a lot of attention we need therefore we tend to learn to be more selfish. But when we grew up, we discovered there are others around us and we need to share what we have.
When people have more than enough and still don't want to share what they have, like when someone is eating and he saw a hungry homeless beggar begging for something to eat, and he doesn't want to share his food with that beggar, that makes him selfish. When someone wants to borrow your car for a date and you said no, that doesn't make you selfish. But if someone needs to go to the hospital for an emergency and you won't help that person, that makes you selfish.

Everybody is selfish at times, it's not wrong or vain at all, as for what makes a selfish, is because we are protective of yourself or feelings.

everyones selfish at times, sometimes without even realizing it. i.e telling a partner things that are bothering you and not taking into consideration what is bothering them.
selfishness is about an individual thinking only about themselves.
its not a bad thing if you realize it and correct your mistakes, but some people can be overly selfish.

I and most everyone else is selfish sometimes. People are born selfish. We must be taught to share. If you think about it, all the moral values we hold as superior are unnatural.
We are by nature very dangerous and self-absorbed predatory creatures, we humans. It is only through training that we learn to embrace those traits that are less animalistic and more humane.

People who have more than enough and doesn't share their excess are called selfish! People who only have enough and doesn't share are just being practical and not being selfish!
People becomes selfish when she/he knows that people are just there to use him/her.(to protect him/herself)

"Climb the Highest Mountain," Mark Prophet, discusses that selfishness is simply someone trying to reestablish contact with, focus on, their inner sense, or possibly being defensive of their ego/image. "Expecting Adam," Martha Beck, does well with explaining "selfish" in terms of why she decided to give her baby birth.
Better to be loving, kind, charitable, healing.

We all do things to please ourselves. If we only please others we make ourselves to be miserable.
