Okay. We have a house in the middle of the woods. Fleas are a problem, ants are the usual. I can live with that. I'm 14 and our house is cluttered, not dirty just cluttered. Oh my god the roaches. My room alone I see on one wall 6 of them. That's on ONE wall. There are baby ones everywhere. Also, we bombed like two weeks ago and ever since for instance. I lay on the floor to do my homework. A roach fell from the ceiling onto my book. It took steps towards me moved it's nasty little whiskers and started chasing me. If I'd move left he'd move left. It scared the crap out of me. We own dogs and mice. Moth balls aren't a option becuase of pets. We can't leave anything outs because the dogs will eat it. I REALLY WANT THE BUGS GONE. IT"S TOO EMBARRASING TO CALL THE EXTERMINATOR BECUASE IN THIS TOWN EVERYBODY KNOWS EVERYBODY. ANY STRONG STUFF WE CAN BUY. REMEDIES ANYTHING. I HAVE WENT ALONE IN MY 9 BY 10 ROOM WITH 3 CANS OF RAID TODAY. WE BOMB AND BOMB AND BOMB BUT THEY JUST GO CRAZY. HELP!!!

1)Time to buy a 20 lb bag of Diazanon at Wal-Mart garden
dept - or some such store in your town

Take a plastic cup - so you don't have to put your hands in it-
and go around the outside of your house and spread it/sling
it for the 6 ft barrier around your house

you will probably have enough for 3-4 trips around(months that is)

may want to do this on a monthly basis

2) get some foggers - 3 to 5 depending on the size of your house
pick a day when you can be gone for 3 hours -

remove all pets from the house!!!!!!!!!!!!

place the little guys spread out around the house on a sheet of newspaper - - -shake them all up and remove the tops

then starting with the one furtherest (izzat a werd?)
from the door - point it away from you and fire that puppy
off and set it down (oh yeah - hold your breath)

then get the others going - and out the door
lock it - - - - - -

and enjoy your shopping day!

May have to bomb a second time - but the ring around the house will really help. Diazanon one bag - then Durasban
the next - swap them around - so the buggies don;t get 'used' to them.

All the best

Hang on just a minute. Before ya go calling the National Guard of Exterminators - why do you have the roaches in the woods is the first question. I am a retired landlady and had a building that was infested with the buggers for years. Why? All of the apartments on the block were over restarants. Roaches LOVE food. I found that the tenants who had clean apartments(no food laying around or packages of cookies in plastic bags/containers) had fewer bugs than did those who had dirty pop/beer cans/bottles around, dishes in the sink, food on the stove(from spills or last nights dinner) etc. Once we got the tenants to keep their apartments cleaner, the spray was effective when the exterminator sprayed. This is the first and foremost priority. Why is this an issue? Especially in the woods?

Next, outside of and exterminator I found a couple of tricks were also helpful. Boric acid. It's a powder you can buy and I think it's pretty cheap. Put it in cupboards or ANYWHEREthe animals can't get to it. It burns them(the roaches). I find them roach hotels suck. Close off your drains at night, they need to drike water too right? Put covers on all your drains. You really sound like you have a nest. Find it, kill it, and you should start to see a decline. You know you found the nest when you see a big honkin' white a** b****. That be da queen. If they are like the ones from western NY, they should start to die off when you kill the queen - SHOULD. Something else you can do to - this is a crazy one but it can work. If you are in an area where it's getting cold now - go away on a mini vacation with the pets for like 3 days. Shut off the heat. Do this only if the temperature won't go below like 40 so the pipes don't freeze. I bet with all of this and the exterminator you can kill 'em all. Seriously. What bug would want to live there? The cold and lack of food should kill off the fleas too.

Hey, I understand about being chased by them freaky things man! I cleaned the vacant apartments and I had them drop down on my head and chase me 'round the kitchen too! Never did have one flick the nasty whiskers though. Ugh!! Creepy!!!!

Roaches are used to the bombs, they aren't as effective and they stink to high heaven everytime you have to use them. Living in the woods is the problem. Once your house is infested like that you need to call the exterminator and have the house fumigated but you can also call them to do a monthly treatment that's safe for pets but it might take 6 months for them to all leave. Another option is Combat roach gel. This is an awesome roach killer. I live in the woods and I use it. I hardly have any roaches except the ones that come in from outside and they die shortly after. You get a tube for $10, I'd get 2 or 3 for your house. Put it out everywhere. Also you can get silverdust and spread it outside everywhere and help stop them from coming back in. They won't go away immediately unless you call the exterminator but if you use the gel and keep food away at night, they will decrease drastically at first and continue over time.

You can try boric acid everywhere. Put behind all the furniture. Put heavy behind everything in kitchen.

We used to have roaches in an apartment building. Boric acid really got rid of most of them. I also got some roach traps. They worked with the boric acid. Put them everywhere because it sounds like a bad bad problem.

This apartment building had regular exterminating too. But the boric acid really did the trick.

It is not embarressing to have roaches. You bought a new house. It is not you.

I thinks some warm climates might have alot of roaches too.

You might need to get an exterminator to wrap the house and really bomb it. I don't know....

I cannot help but laugh! I have been there! If you see 6 there are 100 more hidden! The wood will supplyu a never ending stream of them. For after you think your clear the house more will see the vacancy and move in!
maybe get some cats who love to kill roaches. I do not know the answer!

Im so sorry ..I cant stand roaches ..they give me the willies .. to tell you the truth you will never get rid of them if you are just using bombs... You HAVE to get something with an IGR (insect growth regulator) in it .. for fleas stuff with NYLAR works really good .. look up IGR on google and do some research ..its what the professionals use ..there are products at walmart that have it ..it may cost a bit more ..but it works ..and then you dont have to keep spending more money

You can get Boric Acid a powder at most stores. It works by stopping them from reproducing. So it takes about two or more weeks to kill them but it works. Put the powder around the walls etc.
Keep the house clean "no food"and if you can stop them from getting water .

I think you can buy boric acid in the grocery store too. Just don't eat it. It doesn't burn the roaches. It works like a hormone that stops them from having little roaches. LOL

Ok, listen, you need call your local exterminator, they are very discrete. Your infestation is too large to deal with yourself, obviously. All you are doing is killing the ones you can see, and believe me if you see one, there are hundreds you don't.
The professional will know how to find their nest and eliminate it, that is the only way you will ever get a handle on your problem. This is a messy but necessary undertaking, and might be a bit expensive, but you really have no choice at this point.

There is this gel you can buy at most grocery or discount stores called Combat Roach Gel. Its about ten bucks a tube and you have to use like three or four tubes but its well worth it. I made my fiancee use it to rid his stuff of roaches before we moved in together.

Forget about pride, you MUST call an exterminator! They can get rid of them and give you a guarentee that they will nit return. These are filthy and resilliant creatures, they have to be dealt with by a professional. Good luck sweetie, you're gonna need it.
