pathetic situation? There's certainly enough US money flowing in Iraq. It's been over 5 years. Why haven't the Iraqi people got dependable electric service?

Shock and awe deliberately destroyed Iraq's infrastructure. Did our brilliant military minds think Saddam was hanging out at an electric generating facility or hiding inside a water main?
Over a trillion dollars just isn't enough money to repair anything. Can any Bush lover name something tangible that's been fixed in the last 5 years with that trillion dollars? Bush and friends better move to Dubai or face prison for their corruption.

Because alot of their infrastructure is antiquated and can't handle much electrical load, so it broke down frequently even before the war under Sadam. Not only does the US have to rebuild the war damage, it has to improve the power handling, AND fight off sabotage by terrorists. NOT an easy job! Plus incompetent contractors, etc. So there's many reasons it's not been done, and still in progress. Try restringing power lines in California with the wildfires burning around you...same difference.

Well, if they would stop destroying the infrastructure at every opportunity more people would be enjoying electricity. Didn't you see what happened when they turned over one generation facility to the Iraq officials? In less than 2 months it was looted to being a shell.

The infrastructure is poor and was so before the US arrived. It continues to be poor and is shot. It's been estimated to take 17 years of continual work to bring the electrical system up to par with what we have today.

Well most money going to Iraq is for our military and the conly contractors over there are oil buddies of bush to steal oil.
So as u can see (or already known) bush's interest isnt all that. We know if bush wanted to make situation better he could but thats not his priority, just like hurricane katrina

Don't be ridiculous. Actually doing any construction work would cut into profits. These contractors have a responsibility to their stockholders, after all.

Two things to consider:

They'd have electricity if we hadn't blown it up in the first place.

and

Maybe we don't want to fix it so good.
