He was good last year, but you can't really say what he'll be yet. There have been lots of people who have had great rookie campaigns then just go away. Take Mark Fidrych.
1976: 19-9, 2.34 ERA, 250.1 IP (finished 2nd in Cy Young, first in RoY)
1977: 6-4, 2.89 ERA, 81.0 IP
1978: 2-0, 2.45 ERA, 22.0 IP
1979: 0-3, 10.43 ERA, 14.2 IP
1980: 2-3, 5.68, 44.1 IP
After his rookie season, people thought The Bird was going to fool hitters for many years, but as you can by the numbers, he was never the same, due to a torn rotator cuff (discovered in 1985).
You can never tell who'll be a Hall of Famer until at least 10 years. It's crazy to assume anybody with less experience will be in the Hall, if there's a guy like Albert Pujols, then you say, he'll be a Hall of Famer if he keeps it up.
I could see Daisuke Matsuzaka becoming a star once he gets used to the American hitters. I'm looking forward to see how Troy Tulowitzki's career turns out.

Braun will be a star but I would like to see another good year from Pence before he is projected among the future elite players in the league. Also, there is no possible way to predict any rookie will be a HOF caliber player, none of us can predict which rookie players will be able to put up big numbers year after year which is what it takes to go to the HOF.

not an Astros fan (Giants fan) but from what I've heard/read I think Hunter Pence will be a really good player next year and several years to follow. Too early to tell about the HOF part.
I think Tim Lincecum (rookie) of the SF Giants will be a future star.

Braun is a huge monster!! I dont think Pence will be a hall of famer because he doesnt excell at one major point in the game for example hitting, fielding, or baserunning. He is a good all around player, not a great one. It all depends on how be HE wants it

Pence is going to be a very solid player - maybe even a star, but he won't get much press playing in Houston so that may hurt him a bit. But most teams would be happy to have a player like him on their roster.
Star = Troy Tulowitzki - he's a young Cal Ripken.

He is a very good player. He isn't a liability in the field like Ryan Braun. He was incredible until he got hurt and missed a few weeks. He has performed well in every league he was in starting in Class A all the way up to the majors. He is a definited future superstar. HOF'er may be a little early, but if he can keep up his stellar play, he could be.

Im a reds fan not astros. but saw pence play gives it his all but is very inconsistant offensively remind me of coco crisp when he came up with the indians dont think he will be an all star but in the band box in houston he will put up above average numbers play great d and lead off for years to come. Ryan Brauun for the brewers will break records some day he is an amaziing offensive force and has players like hhardy and fielder to protect him he was outstanding josh hamilton when healthy was great and i watched every game he played linecum for the giants and bailey (reds) hughes (yankees) chamberlin (yankees) Koronka (RANGERS) look to be the next great pitchers
